De-cats

Featured Replies

Just doing a bit of research into de-cat exhaust systems.

Can anyone with a de-cat on their Octy having running problems i.e. boosting, etc.

Please specify if your car has been chipped or not.

Thanks very much in advance.

sports cats seem to be flavour of the month, better flow and passes the MOT,looking at one for mine one day, with down pipe.expensive though

Des,

Had check engine light on mine owing to that sensor (no idea which) but never had any major running problems with it. Was on the car when I got it and had covered 40k before it was removed.

However it was also on the standard downpipe, perhaps it's the larger, is the problem on 2.5" or a 3"?

Had A decatted Scoob, PAIN IN THE **** To live with, it just boomed all the time, Ended up getting the car Noise deadened to get rid of the drone at 70-80.

IMO Sports cat is the Answer & Blue Flame are the people to build the system.

The reason I am asking is there seems to be an ever increasing problem with remapping a de-catted Octavia. When the CEL comes on for the FIRST time the second lambda throws up a code which it never lets go of even when you reset with VAG-COM or similar. This code seems to fluctuate power readings like an on off switch, could be as much as 20BHP but torque is still quite high. Ever noticed a differance in power as you drive the car from day to day, does it pop and bang more some days to others. Over fuelling seems to be the problem area.

This may be utter rubbish mind.

If the car is being remapped ask for the second lambda probe to be mapped out. If the car is already mapped then you need to try a spacer on the on post cat lambda probe. I had the CEL every 80miles running a blueflame custom exhaust and now how codes at all using a custom made spacer in combination with generic Revo. However with a custom remap I would have just had it mapped out.

The second Lambda probe wont have any effect on fueling as its just there to check the cat operation and put the light up when the cat isnt working.

However wheather the engine management system does anything to the map when the light is on as a precautionary measure im not sure.

No probs in day to day driving?

I've done RR runs with the light on and it didn't effect figures.

Lummox, I thought you were going to the SCN RR day today?

I did want to Eddy but was enlisted by my folks to take them to Gatwick this morning. didnt fancy the three hour round trip down there and then half way up the country to follow.

Plus I got flashed on the M25 by a camera...pah. Just have to wait to see if anything drops through thier door (I was in my Dads A4!)

Not really looking for a remedy I can work that out for myself if get any problem. Just wanted to know if anyone is experiencing any problems, see I have this theory. BTW Jabba have been mapping this out for years.
