Refreshed face of a 2000 felli!

Featured Replies

Hey

Just thought Id share my latest alteration to my felli.

Im on a tight budget, so i cant afford too much of the nicer stuff to pop on my car.

To be honest I think ive done pretty well!

Car only cost £250 (ebay special), nothing wrong, bar the usual rust spots.

Ive been given, a sub, amp and head unit. just need to but an amp kit (£8)

Had to replace the battery for the correct one. (£25) Ive a mate that works for skoda so it a genuine dogs b*****ks one.

And the Rad switch (£9)

And the most expensive out lay was my alloys. At a whopping price of £40!! Another eBay special! All with good tread on the tyres. Some Valbrum 951 14''.

This is the car when i bought it. Untitled

The car now DSCF1344

Cheers for looking guys!

I am interested in what you could recommend doing next. I dont want to spend a fortune. And will be doing it myself.

i do like the milotec bumper vents for a fabia. I sure it will fit. But can find them anywhere or a price for them either.

Thanks

Liam

looking good so far.

I like the alloys.

but that stripe has no meaning.

Hi mate, that's a cheap little Felly to start with and you deserve a thumbs up for what you're achieving on what sounds like a pretty tight budget. Lowering could be an option to consider but otherwise just be careful not to end up detracting from the look by trying to do too much.

one more thing to add.

based on appearance and equipment, a car can be a family car, an elegant car or a sport car.

if you plan to drive your kids to school or do mall shopping, factory appearance is best.

if you want to stand out from the crowd and feel like a king (queen) having full comfort equipments inside, go for an elegant tuning.

if you have speed in your blood, first tune your car for rally and only then make it look like one (I still envy djaychela's rally car).

nothing is worse than faking an outside look.

I still get nausea when I see plastic GPS 'shark fins' or plastic 'angel eyes' on non-BMW cars.

I agree with the stripe comment. my old man bought the roll when i was like 10 so i thought id throw it on there. i have been thinking of removing it for a little while now. i think i may take the hair dryer to it tomorrow.

What sort of things would you suggest performance wise.

Im more than happy with the interior, it also seems a LOT of work to change anything major.

I t-cut and polished her today as the paint had been pretty flat since i got her. Its come up a treat! im well chuffed with it! you can see it on the close up pic of the grill, SHINEY SHINEY!

The shocks and springs were an advisory on the MOT, so they, may need to be changed.

So hit me with some ideas guys! + apporx cost. =)

not much you can do on a tight budget other than enjoy it, as it is already looking good.

sometime 'less is more'.

if the engine runs smoothly and economic, be happy.

if your budget will be more relaxed, I would think about clear lens headlights and HID lamps 4300K.

they change everything at night. not to mention they look HOT.

I know, some will tell they're not legal. but if you look at European regulations they say you need: clear lens, a headlight washing system and leveling. I assume your car has already the last two. it's your call.

as for the price, I would definitely go for buying online from a Czech or Slovak shop such as:

http://www.spoilercentrum.cz/eshop/tuning/skoda/felicia-98-01/

Google translate is our friend.

Hey Liam,

To convert the headlights to HID:

1) Automatic Self-levelling mechanism (most Felly's are lucky that the manual one still works these days)

2) Headlamp washer system

3) e-marked and approved headlamps and bulbs. Relfectors, even with "clear lenses" will put most of the light in the wrong place so you'll look like you'll have youe main-beam on most of the time.

.......1 & 3 were not available for a conversion on a Felicia. Headlamp washers were on 1 or 2 "special" editions (L&K and Bohemia I think) You could make some (Halfords parts) but it's a lot of faffing around for no real gain (I have them on the Octy - they make no difference)

Those that will tell you they are illegal are doing so for a reason. (UK / EU law doesn't go through Google translate that well, well actually as it's written in English, it doesn't need to.)

If I remember correctly, MK1 Focus coil-overs fit the front of the Felly (documented in a few places). Front Anti-roll bar from a pickup or the VW MK2 Caddy will improve the handling over the original. The 1.3 was the most tuneable of the engines, but it still won't break any records without spending enough money to have bought a new car.

Any changes you do make along these lines (even down to the alloys) should be reported to the insurance company too. Most of this is considered "modification", Non-disclosure could leave you with a large bill in the event of an accident.

However, above all else, it's your car and your coice as to what you want to do to it. £1,000 spent on it though, will not make it worth £1,000 more.

Nice for £250 :) :)

On that czech site, springs are work out at less than a tenner each, and shocks are equally cheap.

Is this correct concidering I'd be looking at about 150 to buy all the bits in the uk.

Thanks again.

Liam

Hi Liam, ref above Rainbow makes a very good point about the insurance aspect and if you are lucky enough to be within the younger age band certain mod's may well have quite an unhealthy effect on your premium. If you trawl e-bay you'll find many examples of cars that have had quite a few grand thrown at them, only to be re-selling at around 30 to 50% of the total spend value! If you've had a related advisory then lowering would seem a reasonable option and again would advise e-bay/other on line options to source.

I'm keeping the insurance company in the loop. All ive done so far hasn't changed anything. I'm 22 so I'm on the cuff.

Would you need to alter the shocks if lowered springs were added?

you don't gain anything by lowering the car. this is not a F1 car.

it will only destroy your car underbelly.

i guess it isnt! =( but we all like to think that we drive one!

would you be happy yourself in buying off http://www.spoilerce.../felicia-98-01/ masster? the quality and all that are good?

don't have to be sad. you have a great car. mine is older than yours and yet served me well in every european country I visited.

remember, a car's main purpose is to take you from point A to point B safely and as comfortably as you can afford. the 'magnet for chicks' tuning of a car is a waste of money that trashes it. cheap looks for cheap bimbos.

make the car look good for you only. if it (she? :) ) puts a smile on your face when driving.... that's the most important.

be proud you have a Skoda Felicia.

the only parts I'd stay away are parts made of rubber. they're all chinese.

the rest are all czech or slovak, made after skoda factory specifications. what else would you need?

that shop is located in Mladá Boleslav, the town where Skoda Felicia was manufactured.

I plan to take a trip to visit the country and buy some goodies for my car.
