Another Oil Topic From Me

Featured Replies

My car 56 reg tfsi VRS has used 3l of oil in the last 6K this has got to be over the top!

No leaks or gunk and no smoke loss of power ect.

Usualy just cruseing along at between 50-70 on not thrashed.

What can be up?

Realy thinking something aint right and thinking of a change of car.

Iv done 3L of oil in around 6k aswell.

What oil are you using? 5w30 was what i was using & last time i topped it up i put the new castrol sport 0w40 in.

Runs like a dream on that stuff & its recommended for VAG turbo vehicles & not had a problem since.

Im thinking 5w30 is too thin even though skoda recommend thats what should be used.

I switched from 5W30 to 5W40 and although there is a slight improvement im still putting in around 1 litre to 1000 miles.

Christ on a bike  . I wondered when I ordered my service kit from Opie oils why 6 litres of oil was supplied. It did say it would be enough for the change and then top up's. I thought it'll never use 2 litres of oil in 10,000 ('fixed' interval and I'll change it after 1 year so probably even less than that). Looking at these figures maybe it will use that much. :bandit:

No wonder the bloody DPF's clog up.

I think the diesels are ok, its just the two stroke 2.0 TFSI that has a drinking problem right throughout the VAG range.
