Boot water leak

Featured Replies

I'm afraid I'm not one for cleaning the car too regularly, so the floor in the boot doesn't see the light of day very often. The last time it did, which was several months ago, I was a bit concerned to find the well with an inch of water in the bottom, and the soundproofed boot panel absolutely saturated. I dried it all out, and hoping it was a one-off, promptly forgot about it. However, on giving it a post-holiday clean this morning, I found the same problem again, tools swimming &going rusty etc. Anyone else suffer the same problem please, and any idea where the water's getting in?

Are you sure it's not from a blocked rear wash jet?

I see from your profile you have a sunroof, could be the rear drain tube has not been connected properly or has come off

I had exactly the same problem with my octavia, in this case it was the rear footwells that were wet.

After research on here the sun roof was suggested as the problem.

The first thing I did was change my parking habits. Our drive slopes and I used to park facing up hill. After I started parking the other way the wet footwells went away.

When we ordered our yeti, this was the reason we went for a solid roof!

Hi,

After our honda jazz developed swimming pool syndrome....i too would never have a sunroof again!!! My advice check the drainage channels at the rear they often block and cause this. Also check if changes have been made to the design over the time the yeti has been made....

The drain tubes have been moved on the yeti now to exit down the back of the wheel arch, can't remember when the change happened but should be done under warranty if its not one of the early yetis, some have had the rubber flaps removed from the outlet under the tail gate.

Just for the record if anyone else is interested, Skoda have checked the car out today, and they tell me they need to fit modified sunroof drain tubes to fix the leak. Two day job apparently...

Oh, and they replaced both front & rear badges, even though they looked perfectly ok.
