My first Skoda

Featured Replies

Hi, I am a newcomer to the Skoda fold (and VAG as a whole).

At the beginning of June I traded in my old 2001 BMW E46 330i for a 2010 Skoda Fabia VRS in Corrida red with 15K on the clock. I was fortunate in finding quite a well specced one with climate control, parking sensors, cruise control and chrome alloys.

So far I've had it 3 weeks (550 miles) and am very impressed so far. It is a bit of a downgrade in terms of comfort and refinement, but in every other aspect it beats any other car I have owned. The TSI engine has a very broad power band, it pulls effortlessly right from 2000rpm. The DSG gearbox is amazing, gear changes are very quick and crisp. My only dissapointment is that it can be a bit reluctant when first pulling out of junctions in 'D', but then I've been spoilt with the traction of RWD cars for the past 5 years. I'm now getting ~38mpg with mixed driving vs ~24mpg in my last car. The handling is very good too, the BMW used to have a habit of falling into ruts in the road and aiming for trees, ditches, oncoming lorries etc. Love the Media In port, got all my music on a USB stick (first car I've had that doesn't have a cassette player, lol).

It's too soon to tell yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this isn't one of the oil guzzlers. I'll be happy if I can get 4K out of a litre (as that's what my last two cars used).

Hi and welcome.

Hope the new car serves you well.

Hi and welcome aboard.
