Maxi cosi v recaro isofix

Featured Replies

Looking today for baby seat for back of our 2010 Vrs estate.

Anyone got a maxi cosi family isofix base and pebble seat ? This seemed to fit best but still moved about a bit. The recaro isofix base didn't fit at all as front leg didn't reach floor.

None isofix seats seemed to move about quite a lot with seat belt

Anyone know what skoda recommend ?

I have used two Maxi Cosi seats ( the latest is called a XR Rodi) for my grandchildren in the last three years (one for a baby and the other for a toddler). In both cases the seats were anchored by the seat belts alone and seemed perfectly safe and stable. I never touched ISOFIX fittings.

I would try to explain how they work but it wouldn't come out right without you seeing them!!

All I can say is that Maxi Cosi (not the cheapest as you'll know) got really good reviews in tests and I can heartily recommend them on the basis of our experience with our little ones.

Hope this helps a little.

I read that 90% of non isofix carseats tested were not fitted properly.

TBH I think it's simply a case of if you are gonna be shifting it between cars etc get a non isofix (not so heavy generally) whereas if you're gonna plug it in and leave it there go isofix every time. Our isofix base was particularly priceless for the infant carrier......

Anyhow - I've got a maxi cosy priorifix (or something like that) in mine, fitted via isofix and find it great. Pretty expensive - RRP was about £280 IIRC but when I got them (have two - one in each car) they were £100 off if you bought the 'cappucino' one. Cappuccino is more commonly known as brown it seems, but the patch of brown is so small it hardly notices TBH......

I've tried one and it fitted ok

The recaro isofix base didn't fit at all as front leg didn't reach floor.

I have two Recaro isofix bases and they fit perfectly in the octavia. The leg is adjustable.

The Recaro base and seat combination takes up less space front to back so you can have the front seats further back.

Have always used ISOFIX in our cars for both our boys. Wouldn't dream of using anything-else. The Maxi-cosi ones are among the most expensive but they are so simple to use (Green light its fitted correctly; Red light it aint). Like mr_awol I took advantage of the cheaper "Cappuccino" Priorifix option at our local Mothercare just over 18 months ago when our youngest moved out of his backward facing seat.

I've got the same as Nick P, with the Young Expert Plus seats.

The bases fit with no problem at all and the leg extends down and sits on the floor.

Also, as Nick said they do not foul the width of the seat by much so you do not lose loads of leg room like most ISOFIX combinations.

Strange. We used the Recaro young profi with the isofit base and it fitted the rear of the octy perfectly. Didn't realise it was the recommended seat until after. I just got it 'cos it matched the VRS seats.

We looked at the Maxi-cosi but thought it was too expensive but the plus with it was that it could be made to fit many of the more popular prams.

In the end we never used the baby seat with the pram. It's bad for their backs anyway.

We have the predecessor to the Pebble - the Cabriofix - and it fits without any problems and is so easy to fit and move between cars. I would highly recommend them. We bought a Sunshine Kids seat protector which not only protects the seat (duh!) but also holds the base in place better so that you don't get as much sideways movement. Seeing how much wear the seat protector has had over the last 2.5 years was enough to make me purchase another one when our second child came along in March.
