2006 Fabia VRS - Leather, 60k miles - SOLD

Featured Replies

Hi,

I know everyone says this, but this really is a very, very reluctant sale for me. This is probably the nicest car I've ever owned in terms of its condition. It's absolutely immaculate, and in my opinion one of the best Fabia VRS out there.

The only reason I'm selling is I've just put a deposit down on a 61-plate Seat Ibiza Bocanegra. I was trying to persuade my girlfriend to have my Fabia as it's such a shame to let it go, but she's got her heart set on a little girly car. I really want this to go to someone who will treat it like I have.

It's an early 2006 car on a 55 plate. The previous owner was a member on here, so it's been in the club for at least 4 years now.

Spec:

  • Usual VRS spec:
    • BLT PD130 engine
    • Heated electrically operated mirrors
    • Power steering
    • Air conditioning (ice cold)
    • Front fog lights
    • Trip computer
    • Front electric windows
    • Traction control
    • 16" Spider alloy wheels
    • Chrome exhaust
    • 2 remote keys
    • VRS mats
    • Chrome pedals and door kick-plates

    [*]Factory options:

    • Cruise control
    • Heated front seats

    [*]A few minor modifications:

    • Full leather retrim
    • Pioneer double-din colour touch screen stereo with iPod connection, bluetooth, SD card
    • Shark performance remap to 165bhp. The STS unit will be supplied so the remap can be removed and put back on the car as you wish.
    • Whiteline anti-roll bar (only fitted for about 6 months) which sharpens up the handling
    • Parking sensors

Condition:

  • Nearly 60,000 miles
  • 12 months tax
  • MOT January 2013
  • Full service history, first from Skoda and then from Sunset VW, a highly regarded independent specialist in Derby. It's due a minor service in August or 2200 miles.
  • The cam belt was changed in October 2009 and it will be due again October 2013.
  • Body work is the best I've seen. If I was being picky there are a couple of tiny marks which were on the car when I got it. These are: a very small scratch on the roof, some chips on the boot which have been touched in and are hardly noticeable. There are no scuffs. No dings on the door. It gets a full detail once every 6 months and then it's washed using the 2 bucket method once a week.
  • Mechanically sound with no faults whatsoever
  • The alloys are pretty much perfect. They were refurbished by the previous owner and in my ownership I've managed to keep them looking very good.
  • Interior is perfect apart from the sticker on the top of the gear lever is peeling. I had planned on replacing it, but never got round to it.
  • Stacks of receipts, old MOTs etc in a folder
  • Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres all round, all with plenty of tread left

Most of the time I potter to work and back getting an average of 70mpg on the trip computer (it's a very flat, economical route and I drive like a granddad on the commute!). My long term average never drops below 60mpg. Even when having a bit of fun on a country road, the trip MPG never drops below 50. It's always driven with careful consideration of the dual mass flywheel, and it is allowed to warm up and cool down in order to preserve the turbo.

I only ever run this car on BP Ultimate Diesel. I know it's probably a placebo, but it does seem to run a little nicer on the expensive stuff and whatever my baby wants, she gets.

The pictures speak for themselves. Remember - I haven't prepared the car especially for these photos. This is how I keep my cars ALL THE TIME:

If you want a test drive, I'll need you to get comprehensive insurance for yourself. I won't allow you to drive if you only have third party cover, and I'll need to see proof. I know it sounds harsh, but if you crash my car on a test drive I'll be left out of pocket. If you'd rather, I'd be happy to drive it for as long as you want, on any roads you like with you as the passenger so you can see how good it is! I welcome absolutely any inspection.

why the ibiza over the mk2 vrs?

It simply comes down to a lack of examples in my budget with the right options. A new Fabia was my first thought and I test drove one and loved it. I decided I wanted cruise control, climate control and electric windows all round, in either white or green, with the black roof and black wheels. I'm a fussy bugger! There just aren't enough nearly new Fabias out there with those options though, and to buy new with those options would have been a few thousand more than I could afford, even after discounting it. I looked at other makes and noticed the 'beezer at the local SEAT dealer at only 8 months old. It comes as standard with climate control, cruise control, and only has 2 doors so electric windows all round as standard. No offence to the Skoda fans on here, but I'd also say the Ibiza is a bit better looking as standard (I feel the Fabia needs the black roof and wheels to make it look good). Having driven it, I'd also say the Ibiza feels more planted and involving due to a slightly firmer ride, and has a raspier exhaust note which is nice. :)

Stunning!

Ah my baby!

Would'nt have thought that you'd have sold up Andrew!?

I kept this car in A1 condition as well and is a testament to Andrew 25k later to be in the same condition.

The leather was done by Seat Surgeons and the door cards were also done at the same time.

The EGR mod was carried out to get rid of the stutter when I had it and the timing belt change was a full change including all tensioners and water pump. I also had a full multi-v belt kit with new tensioner as well.

The wheels were re-furced by the Wheel Specialists in Birmingham.

Bit of extra info and history on the car there for anyone interested!

Good luck with the sale mate....my sister always wanted this and i'm sure she would have taken it, but unfortunately she has been out of works for over six months now following redundancy. Always the wrong time!

I'm still not sure I've done the right thing! It pains me to part with the Fabia, but I just fancied a change and I miss having a rev-happy petrol. Someone is going to get an amazing car!

I wish I had £6k.

GLWS.
