2007 Octavia Scout - EU Headlamp Xenons

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I know this has been discussed lots but I am after an answer specific to my car.... can anyone help?

I have a 2007 plate Octavia Scout with Xenon headlamps. The car also has Maxidot.

Couple of questions:

1) Can I use the maxidot to adjust the headlamps to drive in the EU? I cannot see a travel mode, is this just on FL cars?

Is it possible that I just need this option activating within the maxidot by someone with the VCDS?

2) If no to question 1. I had a look at http://octavia-vrs.com/cms/content/eu-headlight-conversion about moving the slider to adjust the lamps. The pictures displayed on that site, are non xenon, is this the same process for cars with Xenons? When I had a look it looks pretty intimidating attempting to unscrew the Xenon bulb, so wish to know first this is how its done.

3) Can I use the stick on converters - and would these be ok with the self adjusting headlamps? Surely if they self level/adjust then the lights will always be in a different place so the stick on jobbies would be no good?

I hope someone can help - as Im off to Italy in less than 2 weeks time...

Thanks in advance!

Tim.

1. The headlights on your car won't have a maxidot enabled 'tourist mode'

2. I can answer number 2 as my car has factory fitted xenons and is a pre facelift. Your headlights are the same as the link you posted and can be flat beamed by moving the lever. The only difference is the fact there is a xenon ballast inside the headlight cover.

Take you headlights off and have a look, get familar with them and it should then take you less than 5 mins a light to flat beam them. You could always flat beam them at home before setting off to Italy instead of doing it on the ferry.

3. Not sure to be honest as I would do the above.

3. Yes, you can use the adapters. I have the round ones which eliminate the kick-up to the left - doesn't matter whether the headlamps self-level as the beam pattern remains the same. I think they actually improve the headlights in the UK (less dazzle when you're overtaking) and leave them on all the time. Also, they're car wash-proof. A one-off investment of £6 or so...
