felicia destined for the scrap yard?

Featured Replies

I have a 1999 felicia 1.3lxi that I want to sell, but it has a few of the usual problems that come with them. May be hard to sell? Needs a new Alternator, thermostat, water in footwell etc. Don't know what price to sell it for?!

Local scrapper will give me 120 quid, but seems a shame to crush her...tempted though.

NOOOOOOOOOO!

Alternator - DIY fix. There's a guide on here somewhere, think it's a sticky in this forum? Water in footwell - DIY fix in the sticky again I think? Could be a few things, but the main suspect is the windscreen seal or apparently theres a hole round where the wiper motors are which allows water ingress. Thermostat - not very much for a genuine Skoda one, another DIY fix. If you CBA with the (small) effort, I (and a good few others I suspect) would beat the scrap man's price by a reasonable margin, I'm sure.

Bottom line pal - don't scrap the old girl! A bit of elbow grease and she'll be good to go by the sound of it?

Depending on where you are, you may even get some help......for a consideration of something cold, wet and alcoholic ;) ;)

Ah, thanks both for the advice etc. Much appreciated. I know its not the voltage regulator cos I changed that last time. Oil has been leaking from a loose fitting oil filler cap so oil has got into the alternator and around the pulleys. Just had a new battery 2 weeks ago too! Runs, but alternator only kicking out about 12.1v last time I checked.

I have another car now so just want it off my drive asap to be honest. The body is solid and quite a few parts have been replaced the past year or two. Tax and mot till the end of the month but ill sell it as spares or repairs.

I'm near walsall in the west mids skodanorman. I've had her for four years now but haven't got the time to get her up to scratch again. Someone give me a half decent offer and tow it away! Still drives, but revs drop sometimes when pulling up and can cut out. May be the alternator/thermostat problem, but have no idea. I'm an honest bloke so no faults will be hidden.

Anyone can contact me at [email protected] anyway if more info needed.

As Jonesy92 suggests it certainly sounds salvageable. The relative cost may not be that bad but as you say it's time & effort to achieve. I hope someone takes on the challenge rather than ending her days at the scrappy. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thank you robk1. I've used it every day for 4 yrs up until a fortnight ago. Another car came up at a price I couldn't refuse, so the little skoda is just sitting there now. I'll only scrap it if I don't have any luck selling it over the week. It's been a great little runner but I need my drive back :-)
