DPF Removal & Remap Ireland

Featured Replies

Folks,

Anyone know of someone in Ireland that does a DPF removal and remap?

I know the MOT test is based on smoke rather than emissions whereas the NCT (Irish equivalent) is emissions based, so does the DPF removal and remap affect the emissions?

Are there any other issues with getting this done as it's looking likely my DPF is on it's last legs and I'll be damned to pay Skoda Ireland nearly 2K to get a new one fitted!

Cheers

The NCT for Diesel cars only tests smoke output.

Get rid of the damned DPF and let us all know how you get on.

You need to get rid of that plastic toy and get a proper piece of metal bodied technology

It's back into my mechanic this morning, he's going to do a forced regen on it to see if that cures the initial problem...

I have a video on my IPHONE (better than both above ;) ) of what exactly happens when I'm driving and the warning lights come on, so I'll post that up to see if it is indeed a DPF issue or if it's something else completely....

Had many RS cr done by Joe, excellent job. Very little smoke and more economical too. It's over a year since its been completed with no issues :-D

How much did it cost if you don't mind me asking?

Any issues with NCT or has it been done yet?

Ring joe and ask for a price...each car is different...all i can say is that you will be in no better hands than Joe :)

Yeah, I've emailed and left a message for him, so just waiting on the call back, car was in the mechanics yesterday and he tried to do a regen on it but the computer said it'd be done, so he cleared all codes and it ran ok-ish and then the exact same problems started happening...

Exhaust control unit light came on, followed by the glow plugs and then into limp mode, codes coming on are boost regulator... even when the codes were cleared, power was way down on what it used to be, mechanic has assured me the turbo is fine and I tend to agree as when the car is going and in the upper rev range, it does fly, also, the last time this happened, the DPF then came on a few days later which reinforces my opinion that it's knackered!

Sounds like a job for joe :) He might be away racing at the mo as he acts as tech for a few drivers:)

Kit :)

I have been having a few issues with mine recently, have a faulty turbo actuator position sensor (hopefully being replaced tomorrow) but while i have had the problem last while, as the glowplug light has been flashing the car wont do a passive regen, so it gets to the point of the dpf light coming on

Now i have managed to regen it the few times it has happened, and the way i idid it is this:

As the regen wont happen when the glowplug light is flashing, the fault on mine only caused the glowplug to flash after the first 30sec of the car running and then if i stop the glowplug flashes (due to the fact it doesnt check the turbo position during the first 30 sec) so i drive out to the motorway M7 or M9 depending if im in work, pull in switch off, switch on and then drive as per regen instructions, once i dont stop the glowplug stays off and the regen completes in about 20 mins

Not sure if your glowplug is flashing straight away or not but it might help to do the regen

DPF off and remap is around ,,€550 from Joe

should get around 220bhp

Car is in with joe today getting done so I'll report back numbers later!!

I'll say you end up with 215bhp and around 330lb/ft torque but the power delivery is more impressive the one with a remap and the dpf in place

Disaster......Turbo actuator is damaged now, so DPF is gone and out, but power still down because I now need a turbo actuator! :( This is becoming a real pain in a$$

Well part is confirmed as being the same as the one Dallan mentioned above, waiting on my guy in VW to come back on a price, it'll be booked back in with Joe to hopefully get sorted next week and I'll be then able to let you know the before and after...

On a side note, Joe mentioned that the car already had some sort of tune on it before, so he had to reflash the ECU and bring it back to standard before starting, but I am looking forward to 300+ ftlb of torque!

On ANOTHER side note, I've seen some people changing their badges, are Skoda direct the best place to get this as I've noticed my front badge got scuffed at some point!

I promised to never mod a car again (I had a supercharged 350z a few cars back :)) but once you come onto a forum I think you're a gonner!! ;)

Finally got this issue sorted and had the car back in with joe during the week... Completely different car, wheel spin in third in a diesel is an odd sensation, didn't get it on a roller but joe reckons probably about 225bhp and 340ftlb

Wow, well done sir. Can you report on fuel consumption after a few tank fills.

Will do, I do about a 70 mile round trip to work on motorway and in heavy traffic at times and the trip average was down to 4.9litres to 100km which isn't bad at all... In saying that, with the extra poke the fuel consumption is probably a little less at the moment as I'm still powering through the gears which I wouldn't normally do :)

4.9/100 ???

Driving miss daisy springs to mind :D

From a mechanics point of view I'm wondering tho about reliability in the long run on engine/turbo! Etc.

I was thinking of getting my own removed on my 07 but its fine at the moment,

That's huge power and torque mind ur flywheel :)

Flywheel is well able to handle it once it's not driven like a numpty, like trying to pull really high gears from really low speeds.

That's not completely miss daisy driving :) there were a few spirited sections.... Averaged 5.2 this morning but my average speed was 101km per hr as there was no traffic and it was mostly motorway...

In a side note, any know where to get the glass for a fog light, mine smashed (stone most probably) but I don't fancy replacing the whole unit as the light is working perfectly.
