Superb purchase advice

Featured Replies

New to the forum so hope this is in the right place.

I hope to get my first Skoda (Superb) early December - used car not new, and looking at dealer prices probably 3 years old. It must be the hatchback. Looking at the Skoda Used Car link from the Skoda website most of the ones I am looking at have a dealer price of about 12k.

What I am interested to know is:

1. What you guys think are the important gadgets/extras to make sure I get?

My requirements so far include: Leather, SatNav, Parking Sensors & Bluetooth

2. What I need to make sure the dealer includes in the sale?

I already picked up on one from the forum of a firmware and map update for the SatNav

3. If I see a car I want with a dealer at 12k what can I expect to get it for on a cash sale if I haggle a bit?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Martin

It sounds like you want an Elegance. If you are after a Petrol, go for the 1.8 TSI and if its a Diesel, the 2.0 CR 140. Try and avoid the 1.9's if you can as they are the last of the older PD engines and the newer CR are better. The 140 sits well between the 170 (which you can map the 140 upto) and the 1.6 which is more economical (its what I have). You'll need to choose between DSG and manual.

I wouldn't worry about the update on the Nav but concentrate on the bigger stuff like included warranty, service packages (I chose not to have one) etc.

As for money off, depends on the time of year, how well the dealer is doing, your trade in etc. There is no fixed amount.

Thanks Cemesis

I had decided on the 2ltr diesel but forgot to add it to the posting.

I will go to a Skoda dealership so should get the std Used Skoda warranty (1 year I think). I am hoping that early December with Xmas on the horizon it will mean the dealers will be hungry for a sale. I have yet to decide on trade in as my Saab is now worth peanuts and I may be better going for a cash sale discount rather than trade in. I just hoped to have a rough idea of what I may be able to get off their advertised price.

Depending on what phone you have the bluetooth may need upgrading also.
