Stream head unit

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just driving in from work, head unit was on but volume turned down to min, there was a large fizz then pop through the speakers and now there is no sound from the unit either from the radio or cd unit, has anybody experienced this? Is there a factory reset? Or has the internal amp just gone? Any ideas will be greatly received as its doing a long road trip to France in 2 weeks and can not run to the expense of replacing it.

Forgot to mention its in a mint condition 2007 vrs

Thanks

Darren

It seems quite common for Stream head units to do this. My old one did it a few times. Usually if you leave the ignition off for a while (leaving just the head unit switched off isn't sufficient) you will find next time you start the car it will come back on as normal and work fine for weeks/months/years, until the next time it does it!

This is helped (not 100% fixed) by a firmware update the dealer can perform. I had to push for it though as they had no idea what I was on about.

Cheers guys, just been out and checked it, all working as it should now! Weird......... thought I was being shot at when it went bang, I even ducked like a complete numpty!

It's due a service so might get the stealers to check the firmware.

:) I know the feeling well. I utterly shat myself every time it did it as usually I had the volume up loud at the time. :D

Annoying how you have to turn the ignition off and on again to get the sound back - on the motorway that's kind of tricky......
