 Starting to make a little more pace now... Up to 16th, although I think Manny and Col are safe (for now! ) I also noticed that for the second part of 24th April, we had a good high spike of scored work units completed, better than at any other time.

You'd do better if all the PCs were folding in your name, but thats your choice of course. I thought her PC was quite fast. It bemused me when she said it was going so slow! Normally they start off saying it'll take weeks to finish one, then it does a frame or two and settles down, often taking a day / day and a half at the most. My Athlon 750 is crunching a big'un too, but it'll still be done my Wednesday ish.

Right, my frame is due to finish in 20 minutes, but my WU will finish in June. Hmm.

It should speed up a little Richard - Is that just started?

Just started today.

Good work Jase, keep going :)

I'd make a little more progress if only I could coax the client round work's proxy server. So far, it's proving tricky :thumbdwn:

Steve

Ah dammit J, looks like I'm gonna have to concede 15th to you as we've got a site power down tomorrow and I won't be able to turn my work dedicated folding machine back on til next Wednesday! :( Ah if only it wasn't limited to Windows, I could bring out the big-guns ;)

Chris

I thought there was a *nix client?

Steve

Well, I'm just managing to stay ahead of Wardy, just want to pass Xav :D

I thought there was a *nix client?

I can only find Linux (x86) and Mac? If you know any different let me know :D

Chris

I thought there was a *nix client?

Steve

Yes, there are clients for Linux (that's what I'm using) and Mac OS-X.

.....And I'm camped at number 10.

Maybe I'll find the Linux client and get my laptop involved....... :)

Phil

Linux client found, downloaded, and installed on my laptop. Let's see what happens now.........

Well, I'm just managing to stay ahead of Wardy, just want to pass Xav :D

Yeah, I'm just rolling alone with the one PC. As I say, if I could get some work machines involved

Found my machine was running two instances of the XP console last week too, which didn't help matters

Steve

Jason, don't rest on your laurels just yet:-

You just done a high scoring one, Mike? :D

I don't mind losing a few ranking places, if my publicisation of folding gets more people on the team to bump up the overall Briskoda.net score.

I don't fold 24/7 I must admit, well, not *yet. NEED MORE POWA! :D

Remember....

There's no 'I' in team Jase ;)

Power to the Briskoda folding team, etc etc

Steve

Yes, we need more members. Even with my extra processors we are struggling a little to get into the 400's. We are hovering around the 530-550 position at the moment and cant seem to get higher.

I think we're creeping up higher Manny though - If you go into that "Top 1000" teams page that I linked to, and Col showed first of all, you can see that our weekly average of around 28000 points is way above the average of the other teams around us. Often by 20000+ so the climb will continue IMO.

More the merrier though. I only went and got two towers and the laptop to further the team not my own tally.

[i'm gonna getcha again, Mike! ;)]

*honest! :D

Do you think the reason the majority aren't taking part is simply that they don't understand the concept of 'folding' or aren't interested in taking part?

Because I run the console all the time, I'm not sure on this one, but can the FAH GUI come on when a PC is inactive, as a screensaver does? So that for people with an average PC can fold during inactive periods?

I feel a poll may be in order :D

Steve

There is a screensaver version you can download from the main download page.

Mine is running in the background but has to come off when I want to play a game. For doing 'deals' via ebay/MSN/many a forum, its fine.

  • Author

Yeah, I've noticed if I wanna play worms, I need to turn it off....Not sure why, but at any other time its fine and I don't notice its there.

Poll? I'll let someone else bump up their post count. But in all seriousness, I thought there quite a few techies in here and I'm not sure many are using all the machines they *could. :D

I was in my Mum's dept at uni the other day, and their computer room was full of about 30 P4 2.8s. :D I was dribbling at the possibilities.
