oil cap weeping

Featured Replies

Hi all

As those of you that have ssen my introduce yourself post will know I have recently bought a mk1 fabia VRS. All seems ok with it except that I have now noticed that the oil cap filler cap weeps a bit of oil. I have been told that this could be down to a faulty PCV valve. Is this right ? or is it more serious :( where is the valve located on the engine. Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Keith

Mine does it too. Didn't think much of it.

Replied in general car section.

could be excess crankcase pressure caused by a blocked valve, the pressure has to go somewhere and if it cannot escape through the valve it will take another route. best get it checked and sorted as if this is left the pressure could cause failure of a seal (eg. Crankshaft, camshaft) and then it becomes expensive.

I believe its normal, alot seem to do it, these cars breath through the crank so it's normal for there to be a bit of blow through.
