A little help please :)

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

right this is something that is really bugging me i had my car mapped with a pipercross pannel filter was then to read some posts that aftermarket filters can/will ruin my turbo eventually.......but now my car sometimes feels like it needs more air i know this is because it got mapped with a different filter and all that so it will run very slightly different but how much damage can be caused my putting an aftermarke pannel filter in? should i just lump it and put it back in? or just stick with the standard filter? i realise there may already be threads on this but this is bugging me so any help woud be very useful.

cheers guys

chris

a panel filter wont do any damage to your turbo. can only help as it should be getting air easier.

as long as its not the oil variety as these tend to take the maf out.

thanks lofty 79 damn its been sat in the cupboard for 9 months lol, she shall be getting put back in :) so why the drama before as in why woulod anyone say damage may be caused?

scaremongery comes from those who know little of the subject. When people dont understand something, or havent done it, instead of admitting it they give reasons why its a bad idea - until they try it and magically change theyre mind

ha ha fair point dont think anyone can argue with you there :) i take it your running an aftermarket filter?

I can't see it making a difference to be honest.

Use vcds and log group 3 in 3rd or 4th gear from 2k to 4.5krpm with the stock filter. Then do the same with an aftermarket one. I'd be surprised if you see a difference.
