Where to buy wing mirror LEDs?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, my passenger side wing mirror side repeaters have failed due to a dodgy LED in the circuit (have taken it all apart etc) Where can I buy just the underside bit with the LEDs on? Have had a quick looka round ebay and can't seem to find the one I want. It's a Octavia II VRS 2007. Many thanks :)

TPS, as long as they fit and work properly :) if not then dealer :)

TPS supply OE parts, some will give you a discount over dealer parts.

Either way if you buy from TPS or a dealer they will be OE parts.

Thanks, just bought it so hopefully will fit like a dream! :)

TPS??

ta. :)

Mine has gone too. So much for a sealed LED lasting forever.

Been reading a lot about it on here - Several threads - These things do seem to fail a lot.

There are TWO types, one with puddle lights and one without.

The one with puddle lights is

the ones without

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1c28d8584e

There are TWO descriptions of how to replace this unit

1) remove mirror - Various methods from yanking mirror to prising clips

2) remove painted casing - Various pulling methods described

Both then describe removal of two Torx screws to remove the light unit.

Had a little try of both removal methods and failed. Mirror is very firmly in and so is the surround. If anyone has removed one with Puddle lights off a 2008 Elegance please let me know what I'm missing!

Emailed a few sellers for best price - Mine has puddle lights so the £ 37 one.

Here is my quote from a main dealer today for the LED via email:

The full costs are as follows:

Lamp- £33.36

Wiring loom-£6.82

Labour is .90 of an hour which equals £74.99

All plus vat

The loom is recommended on the parts system when replacing the lamp.

£ 138 for an LED

I know it doesn't feel right, in the split second before the clips release it feels like something is going to break!

Trust me though, angle the mirror all the way down, squeeze your fingers in between the top of the mirror glass and the mirror housing and pull the mirror glass out and slightly down. It will release.

Oh, and save yourself £100!

Buy some trim removal tools for a fiver, removal then a doodle ,mask off

Then prise off

Yup, what he said. I'm 6'2" with equivalent sized hands, and I manage to pop both mirrors out by angling it down and moreso in to replace the puddle lights with leds. It DOES feel like it's gonna break, but it will pop off.

However, I do recommend that you get it pointing in as much as possible, cos it enabled you to get a finger right in behind the mirror so you're able to give it more force from the centre of the mirror instead of jsut around the edge.

Soon as it's off, from memory I believe you only have to take the three black screws out from around the motor (disconnect the motor if you want, but after a few times, I just let it dangle around) and push the bottom glass bit down: the plastic stubs holding it on are a bit stiff, but they do go

Taking the cover off is the scary bit. changing the LED's is a doddle but you do need quite a long thin screwdriver to reach.

I thought the LED was about out £15 when I had to replace mine, was a few years back I suppose.
