Doing too many miles in Furby VRS

Featured Replies

My beloved Furby VRS is almost one year old. Unfortunately, I travel 100 miles round trip to work every day, sometimes extra business miles and do a few runs at the weekend. End result? 31,000 miles in the first year.

The car is perfect and eats the miles no problem.

BUT, how hard is this hitting the resale value? If I keep this up, I will be at 50,000 miles by the end of the year when I am going up to an Octy II VRS.

Should I sell soon and get something else until later in the year or should I keep hold of it and take the depreciation hit?

Any helpful advice backed up by figures?

Why not pop into a dealer and get it valued? The problem is at the moment demand is apparently outstripping supply, so you can still get a good figure for it, however, as the 2nd hand market starts to flood, you might find it becomes a buyers market and high-mileage cars will not be sought after. Another option may be to buy a cheap runaround and keep the Fabia and let the age catch up with the mileage :D

my furbi 1.4 16v has done 70.000 nearly and shes 5 this august :D still like new

My car has 3200 on the clock and is just over 5 weeks old. I will be doing similar miles, but i have every intension of keeping it 3-5 years. As long as it is diesel it will sell, but selling it early is the worst option as it will be worth

According to CAP, the difference in price between a 1-year old vRS with 31,000 miles and one with 12,000 miles is just

My TDI is only at a mere 63k now. I'm not too bothered about resale AT ALL, as I plan to keep it until I destroy it. Hopefully that will be when it hits 400,000 miles and the chassis has rusted through. :D

I'm thinking of doing that chris, I do too many short journeys around town so the fabia is wasted on them. 21k on the clock and 2 weeks off it's first birthday! Doesn't time fly when your having fun :D

I plan on doing the same as Jason. I think it should last a good 300k with being looked after and at least 15 years. Now look at the

Really? Are you sure you want to drive your car on its roof?

Yep, I've picking up the extra wheels on Saturday

u can easy get miles off before u trade it in lol

I currently do about 30'000 miles a year, but thats why i chose the Fabia vRS. Diesels handle the miles alot better than a petrol and hold there price better than petrol as well. I plan on keeping it for many years, but i think thats more to do with the finance i got to buy it!!!

I`ve had my Fabia Vrs since the beginning of feb and have just clocked 12.5K our flleet manager thinks that when its up for replacement (about 80-90K) that he will still get 8K for the car with 1-2yrs of the manufacturers warranty left so I would just keep piling ont he miles and enjoy the ride :D

DE JA VU!

strange you post this today... i'm exactly the same as you kaivaksdal, I am going to trade in tough again - it will cost me

my new furby vRS has just landed in the country apparently! I should get it next week.... I will cover 50,000 miles a year, and plan to keep it 3 years..... I chose it in the hope it will handle the mileage, I'll let you all know! ;)
