Test Drives

Featured Replies

I suppose this could be in a general forum but it's here because I will be wanting a trial in a Fabia Vrs...obviously I know it's easy to get a short drive, but what's the attitude of Skoda dealers to letting you have the car for longer periods?

Personally I don't think you can fully appraise a car unless you have it for a whole day,and in the past dealers have lent me one of their demo cars on this basis, however other dealers have said they can't do unaccompanied test drives because of insurance considerations.

Anyone managed to borrow a Vrs for a day?

You should be ok. My local dealer gave me the car from friday to monday.I only popped in to have a look unannounced as well. They said as i was a previous customer it was no problem. I signed an insurance cover with a £500 excess for damage accident etc prior to leaving though. Bought the car i test drove a week later.

Try Rainworth Skoda near Mansfield, they let you take cars for extended test drives without needing to have a salesman with you.

Thanks for the info...my nearest dealer is Gordon Lamb,Chesterfield but if they won't play ball I'll go to Rainworth Skoda,I've been there in the past.

I had an unaccompanied drive of a Fabia vRS for a couple of hours - to be honest, that is plenty to try it out on various roads and get a feel for how comfy it is longer-term. Often demo cars are being used by dealership staff as their everyday transport so an overnight test is pretty inconvenient for them.

This was Palmers Skoda in Watford. I ended up buying that demo car.
