Engine coolent sensor again...

Featured Replies

I replaced the coolent sensor/thermostat not long ago on the 1.4 fabia classic, now its gone again...any reason why it would feck up so quick? It was a pattern part euro, reckon it could be that?

coolAnt lol.. did u change both seals? + what makes u think they have both 'gone' again?.. gen parts?..

vag cars are known for chewing pattern sensors, go original, and where coolant temp sensors are concerned, you should get another week or two

temp gauge isnt working, tryed vcds and its reports coolAnt sensor again as fault...sure it was a part recommend on here from euro,i guess you get what you pay for with pattern parts

You pick on spelling of coolant then write "u" seems a tad ironic and hypocritical :giggle:

any idea how much a gen part will cost?

I would have thought £25-£30 just a guess mind

haha 'u' is a common abreviation 'luv' ;-) not a spelling mistake.. iv never had a gen coolant sensor fault again after replacing it.. so go genuine

no problem, wish i done that the first time...would be kool if members could get a discount on gen parts to...

Quite common on the octys for non genuine sensors to fail quickly, hence everyone recommends a genuine one

i guess id be better just buying the whole thermostat unit like i did from euro?

edit:just foned chathams in edinburgh,£39 for the sensor lol

no need for the thermostat unless its overheating.. id fit just the sensor + seal.. (the housing the sensor fits in is not the thermostat housing).. the thermostat is at the fron left of the engine bud ;-).. if after fitting the sensor + seal the temp gauge isnt working then fit thermostat + seal..

by the sound of it u may have not fitted a thermostat the 1st time?? if not then u might want to fit that 1st. i only use gen bits so iv never heard of having to fit a part again after fitting.. but might be more common with non-gen bits..??

sorry m8 assumed it was a vrs bud.. yea your right the sensor + thermostat use same housing on the 1.4 mpi petrol..

jus get a gen one bud
