Following a turbo failure on my Vrs, I want to get the intercooler off to have it cleaned.

What is the best way?

Does the front bumper need to come off?

Can it be done from inside the O/F wheel arch?

No need to remove the bumper, it can be accessed by removing the undertray and wheel arch liner. You may also need to remove the headlamp to get access to the pipes.

An alternative way of cleaning out the indercooler does not require it to be removed. Simply remove the bottom pipe that runs to the turbo and the top pipe that runs to the EGR intake. They spray a whole can of carb cleaner into the top pipe and watch the cr@p drain out the bottom. Flush with warm soapy water, then cold clean water, then ensure it is fully drained out.

I'm concerned that it may be full of bits of turbo, so I think it may be best to get it cleaned!

Oh yeh, missed that bit probably best to shake it out!
