4x4 Octavia Drive/mpg?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Is the 2007 Octavia 4x4 1.9tdi permanent 4 wheel drive, or does it activate when required?

Are they as good on diesel as the non 4wd ?

Lastly do they have dpf in that year?

Thanks! :sun:

I'm sure its based on, albeit uprated version of the haldex system on my mk1 which would mean its permanent 4 wheel drive. Roughly 80% front 20 % rear bias. But it can shift the bias as a particular wheel looses grip by upto 10 % front 90% rear, which can catch you out sometimes. :0) well, with a bit of provocation. Generally they are worse mpg wise than tge 2 ed counterpart as tge load on tge engine is greater, and the transmission weighs more. But IMO is worth it, specially in the winter.

4x4 octavia 1 - 1.8 20VT - I used to see about 23-low 30's but with the longer gearing of the VRS fitted in the 4x4 box I see more like 25-41mpg same stage2+ map. Thats mixed driving v's motorway speeds.

Have had a few lower ones and few higher but in general 25-35 is realistic depending on how you drive

Best mpg so far over 250mile trip was 45.3 doing steady 65-70mph which I was shocked at :D trailering the track car see's more like 23-28

OP - you're asking about the mk.2 Octavia.

Mk.1 OCtavia 4x4 TDI's are rarer than hen's teeth in the UK
