sump tray missing?

Featured Replies

I've searched the forums etc with no success, dont know what else to call this plastic tray thing that stops oil dripping on my drive.

Basically, I was filling my windscreen washer and it occurred to me to wonder whether the tray needed cleaning. Well it didnt. Cos it wasnt there.

There are fixings for one, but no tray.

Now I wonder - is this one of these crazy things that Skoda do (like not fitting a bonnet strut) to save money on the base models? Or was it there originally and has been removed for servicing at some point and not refitted.

I'm sure the main reason for them is to improve aerodynamics and improve consumption.

So if anyone has an Octy 2 1.9 TDi estate can you please let me know whether it should be there? And maybe a skoda whiz could tell me the right name forit - and where I can get one?

Yes, it ought to be there. I've got the S base model, and it's there OK.

Ask at the dealer, they will have a picture of it, part number and price.

Check if you need the fixing screws as well (two different sizes are used).

It's common for them to be left off by lazy / forgetful mechanics.

They also have a habit of falling off if the mechanic loses some of the screws whilst removing it and thinks it'll be fine with a few missing. A big puddle or the wind at high speed then rips it off.

It is designed to protect the engine bay from dirt.

Also noise control - my mother in law's disappeared from her Golf after servicing. If that gets forgotten, what else could be? Its quite a big component!

All the Octavias have them regardless of trim spec.Your dealer is the best bet for one of these and IIRC they are not very expensive.

They're way cheaper from the dealership than from ebay. I need to buy one today.

I've noticed that My FL Octavia Vrs has the trays under most of the car. Where the tray stops , just before the rear wheels it has a spoiler shaped end pointing to the floor.

Your old one was the same Andy . As silver says a ahem "technician " has left it off .My dealer did to me.I rang them when i got home .Oh yes its here .So returned to have it back on

My dealer put mine back on but with no fasteners, detached itself at Silly MPH plus a bit more. The RAC recovered it from under my car and the dealer refitted it, this time with fasteners.

You worn yours away due to the ride hieght?

Yup. One ordered from the dealer. Just over 40 quid inc vat.

Think it was £44inc vat actually. I got a 1K0 825 237 AG. I think the 1K0 825 237 P might have been cheaper. Hoping the 1K0 825 237 AG includes the isothermic pad for that price.

Quoted £57 from Silbury and £69 from Benfield; both prices inc vat. Interesting.

ordered one and they only charged me 40.89 (plus VAT)

when it came - no fasteners - that will be another £8.23 inc VAT (plus postage to send it to me!)

44inc vat was from bickerton
