Concerning Problem

Featured Replies

Hey guys kinda new to this forum buisness so here goes,

I aquired my Fabia HTP from my father and found it a great little runner is done me well for about a year now minus breaking down and having my first spark plug change. Recently though my air recycler button keeps turning itself on which is costing me fuel and its doing my head in cause it takes 2 pushes to turn it off again and a few seconds later it goes back on again :S I thought it might have been the cambelt but i read that its a chain and not a belt so this has left me confused.

Welcome to the forum.

The Fabia 2 section might be a good place to post and get some assistance.

Is this the Interior heater control & going onto Recycle instead of bringing fresh air in,

that you are asking about?

(is it something that it does as you are reversing the car?

Yes, however it does it constantly regardless of reversing or going forward.

Sorry,

i was confused also, and still am as to why that is costing you fuel (is it because the fan going faster)

& why there would be any connection with a Cam Belt or chain.

Hopefully an adult with knowledge will be along.

all the best.

Essentially it is costing me fuel as it is acting like the aircon is on so it is idoling at just under 1000 rpm instead of 750 and i just assumed that it could possibly be the cam belt as it is affecting the revs.

I'd guess it's the resirculation flap/motor if it's a similar setup to the mk1

According to his profile, it is a Mk1

I had that problem, My flap motor was stuck. I just moved the flap which is underneath the glove box to the right and it started working again :)

I shall take this time to say pleb you are a legend thats the problem sorted i could kiss you... but i'd better not lol. The problem lies with the meshing of the cogs, the two outer ones have half a tooth missing to let it know its at its limit which naturally wears first causing it to slow right down, thus creating friction... A dollop of grease and a few button presses later and hey presto! problem solved (for now) champion. Thanks again guys I may actually fall victim to this forum buisness after all lol time to order a sticker me thinks can you get them in silver? lmfao need it to match my colin mcrae one.
