Vrs tsi oil

Featured Replies

Its my first car Its a second hand octy 09. When looking at the service invoice from the previous owner i notice

POL: sw10:30

Surely the oil spec minimum would be 10w:30 to comply with the specs set out in the user manual?

... Or does the above oil fit into the 505/507

Okay so the oil they put in is vw505 compliant, however the owners manuals states the petrol 2.0 ltr requires vw 502 or 504!

My question is...Is the oil in the engine now going to damage the engine?

Sounds wrong to me, but that depends on what oil spec is required there.

As it's warmer, it might be that a 10-30 is the correct oil.

Yeah i hear that but Melbourne is quite cool in winter and recently 3 degrees some nights. The user manual states the oil specs as 502 and 504 and I'm sure that would take local climate into account. If this oil I'd detrimental then I am very disappointed in the dealer for allowing this. I shall be giving them a call.

I also have to work out my next steps regarding inside wear on rear tyres and associated noise... May post photos of that in another post.

The wear on the inside tyres is common.

There were updated tyre geo settings that corrected the issue somewhat.

IIRC it reduced the negative camber from something like -45 to -20, but you'd need to speak to your dealer or similar to get the correct figures.

what is that?

If it burns oil at the same rate as a significant number of VAG engines just stick fully synthetic 5W-30 or 5W-40 if consumption is borderline (1litre/1000km) and change the filter / refill every 6k or so.
