tick over on fabia 1.4 diesel

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Just bought a 2007 fabia 1.4 diesel hatchback. just noticed when stopping at lights or junctions, the revs increase this is when my foot is on the brake pedal, when i remove my foot from the brake pedal the revs drop down to normal. anybody have any ideas as to the cause. The car has only done 30000, it is under warranty, but i thought i would try you guys or gals first.

cheers.

Try lifting the throttle pedal with your foot when the revs increase. If they drop it will be a faulty pedal

They're all drive by wire now so pedal is basically a glorified dimmer switch.

Would be interesting to see output on vcds, may be faulty or getting interference from brake.

Alternatively cars increase revs at tickover if the electrical current demand cannot be met, so you may have a short to do w,ith the brake light switch or battery/alternator issue.

Take it to the dealers if you're covered, it will be interesting finding out the cause.
