Thought I'd try and start a progress thread as I've never done one of these before even with my old car. Please bare with me as this will be a slow progress lol.

I suppose I had better start from the beginning......................................................

Back in december I sold my beloved 280BHP VX Signum 2.8T V6 due to stupid £460 a year road tax and running costs this was my old beauty

siggy.jpg

I was originally looking at replacing her with a Sabb 9-3 Aero but at the time all the half decent ones were either just out of my price range or the other end of the country and I didn't have a car to travel in to go and see them. I had joined Briskoda a few months before I sold the Siggy as I was thinking about buying a Fabia vRS and one day while perusing the for sale section I came across a red Octi vRS mk1 and fell in love. It was well priced and well under what I had planned to spend on a car so was even more appealing. I contacted the seller and after a few emails planned to see the car one Saturday. I had pretty much decided I was going to have it before I got there. I arrived at midday and was greeted by a cracking car that was exactly as described so I snapped her up and drove her home that day. These are a couple of picks taken a few days before i picked her up.

The Spec at this stage was Revo stage 1 map, Forge 007 DV, EBC groved discs, Forge carbon engine cover.

She needed a little work straight away which comprised of new arb bushes and droplinks which cured a nasty knock at the same time I had a yellow dog bone mount fitted also.

She stayed pretty much like this till around Feb when I decided to strip the front grill off and paint Plastidip matt black as below.

Once this was done i came across a cheap set of RS4 alloys thanks to Bowders1, I'd all ways loved these alloys and just had to have them. Pics of the wheels off the car

And pics once fitted

Next up were coilovers, after a drunk bid on ebay I ended up with a cheap set of coilovers for the octy lol. I gathered all the other parts I needed such as top mounts, bearings and all nuts and bolts etc etc and fitted them at a Vec-C/Signum owners club Fix it meet. I'm still an active member of the forum and made some great friends on there who were more than happy to help me fit them. This was the first time I'd tackled such a big job and had a great time doing it and learnt a lot too.

Some pics from the days efforts.

After fitting the coilovers and dropping her a good few mm I notice the inside of the front tyres were rubbing on the coil adjuster so I purchase some 5mm hubcentric wheel spacers and fitted them which gave me the space I needed.

Thats pretty much how she's stayed since then.

Due to rubbish weather she has been filthy for the last month till today when she had a full detail. Some pics after todays work.

And below my latest addition, I have been looking at stickers and came across this one. I wanted something a little defferent from the norm so I went for this.....

A wolf in sheeps clothing. Not to everyones taste but I like it and as I'm going to be Plastidipping my wheels soon I thought I'd stick with the red and matt black theme.

Thanks for looking and all comments welcome.

Cheers

I have been thinking about a Cupra splitter ever since I bought her just not got round to it yet. Lots of plans in the pipe line just not much time or money at the moment. I've got THS engine mounts to match my dog bone mount and 2 ltrs of G60 transmission oil at work to do gear box oil change so they will be the next things I do.

Cheers Lloyd. My mrs noticed last night and thinks I'm sad. She actually laughed in my face lol. I think its cool though ha ha. I was thinking of having some smaller ones made to fit on each wing above the indicators like a Ferrari lol.

Lol. I keep all my bills for the car in my glove box. She hardly ever goes in my car so I don't generally worry. Apart from last week when we had to use my car and she went to the glovebox for something. I nearly pooped my pants!! Must find a better hiding place ha ha.

Well unfortunately the Octi's having to take a bit of a back seat at the moment due to a new house purchase. We picked the keys up last Monday and it needs a complete refurb in side. The old lady in before us had lived there since it was built in 1976 so you can imagine the work I'm having to put in. Since Weds I've been doing a full days work then straight to the house and working till midnight so tired is an undersatement! Still will be worth it in the end plus the new house has a nice long flat drive and single garage whoop whoop!! I did manage to fit a new N75 valve Saturday while at work which seems to have cured the boost surging probelm for the moment. I took the oppertunity whilst under the bonnet to remove the pipe to the throttle body to have a look and its filthy. I have a new gasket at work but that will have to wait till I have finished the house now. MOT is booked for tomorrow for the old girl so fingers crossed. I have no idea if she'll pass or not to be honest, if she doesn't I think it will be something steering/suspension wise tbh. I'll post back tomorrow with the news.

Wow didn't realise it had been so long since I last updated this thread. Any way not a massive amount has happend to the Octi over the last couple of months as have been busy with the new house. Still got a list of jobs as long as my arm to do to it but they can be done in the evenings thanks god.The only things that have been done to the car are throttlebody clean and gasket change. It was as black as your hat on the inlet side. I was in a a rush as was at work when doing it and was in and out answering the phone etc bloody customers lol so no pics unfortunately. Also did oil, filter and fuel filter change last week. Strangely since doing the service and throttle body clean I seem to have dropped about 4 mpg now I dont know if its a mixture of the outside temps and the fact I did only town driving last fill up and most mornings I was stuck in heavy traffic for two weeks I'm not sure but I filled up yesterday and I'll be keeping a close eye on it. Saying that though the car is pulling a lot stronger since the above was done and feels very responsive so I'm still happy. On another note I have ordered some goodies for the car the first of which arrived today - Whitleline 24mm ARB. I wanted to stick with the standard front as I'm modding on a budget so Damien at DPM did me a very good deal on the above. I must say excellent service as ever from Damien, Ordered it Friday PM and was delivered this morning will post a pick later all though I'm sure most of you know what one looks like. My second mod should arrive Weds hopefully and will be fitted later in the week. I will update once its arrived. A pic of my rarb lol4e8u2u6e.jpg
