Well I'm hoping I'll be able to get some progress pics up over the weekend. Plans are to remove my grill and recoat the plastidip as I've ruined it with wax (last time I wax the car in the dark) also while I have the plastidip out I'm going to spray my mirror covers. Probably not to everyones taste but if I don't like it I can all ways peel it off. I will be borrowing an upholstery cleaner from work as well as the mrs rear seats are all sicky from my little girl, will do mine while i'm at it as they are filthy.

The car is booked in Monday to have my decat and down pipe fitted so proper excited about that.

Well it was a busy weekend. I managed to give the seats a good clean. All though they could do with another go at some point. Grill came off and was replastidipped. Which looks much better now. Mirror covers come off and were plastidipped all though I didn't do a very good job and they will be coming off and being redone again. Car went in today for decat fitting. It will be going back in tomorrow as its knocking and vibrating really badly at around 2k revs, also looks like they've had the whole exhaust off as its now not sitting properly, so not to happy with that. Just one pic to post for the minute as I'm on my mob and the others I took are on my camera.qy4e3u3a.jpg

Will get some decent pics of the car Friday when she's cleaned ready for the Waterloo meet.

will have to come and have a listen to the decat when we are at the Waterloo meet, nice looking car buddy!

That's if its sorted by then mate. Having major problems at the moment which is not good two days away from the meet.

Sent from my phone, using my thumb.

sure they can sort it by then especially as they messed it up in the first place.. if not drive it down with no exhaust problem solved ;)

  • Author

Well I'm taking it to my normal garage tomorrow for them to have a look. I trust them and they will tell me if the other shower have messed it up or whether its a problem with the down pipe.

Well a little update from my last post. I took the car to my usual garage to see if they could sort the mess the first garage had made. They are only up the road from my work and by the time I had got back to work they called me and asked me to go back and have a look at what had been done. I walked back to the garage, my car was on the ramps and I was greeted with this

So as you can see a really good job!!!!!

The decat is twisted and bent, The second lamda probe was smashing into the heat shield above the exhaust, Some nice extra rubbers wedged under the exhaust too for good measure.

My garage spent the next few hours taking it all apart and refitting the whole system, they also spaced the second probe as to stop the cel light coming on.

Whilst refitting the exhaust they also found this!!!!!

My 6 month old THS uprated dog bone mount completely knackered. The front bush is completely trashed I have a feeling it is to do with the bad fitting of the exhaust in the first place as there is no way it should go like that after such a short time. They ordered me a new one from TPS and fitted it for me. I picked the car up Friday night and at first it seemed a lot better ie no rattled on steering rack and I was well chuffed but on my way to the grafitti tunnel meet once the car had got hot the rattle started again as bad as ever so I'm back to square one. I can only think I have two choices either I buy another decat and see if that fits any better or just go back to standard cat but thats not ideal as I'm going to stage two.

Not much I can do with the car and exhaust till next week so while at work today I fitted my Whiteline RARB, It all went on very easily, I cant really push the car at the moment as I;m worried I may damage it but from the short blast I've had it felt a lot tighter at the rear and the I can feel a definate power hike in third gear. Pics of the RARB once fitted

Just want the exhaust sorted now so I can enjoy the car again!!!!

still can't believe them pictures of what they did! what do you mean by spaced the 2nd probe??

  • Author

They space the 2nd probe so as to move it out of direct flow from exhaust gases. Once the cat is removed the probes will both pick up the same values as apposed to when the cat is in place and it will eventually set off the CEL and will bring up a code to do with cat efficiency etc.

so they basically put washers on then to space it or is there a proper part for it?

  • Author

They have put an adapter on which angles it slightly but also to stop it smashing the heat shield in the exhaust tunnel too.

ah rright i had a search around and found one on the web. hope you get your car sorted soon!

Cheers mate me too....

You might find that the de cat is catching on the shield round the steering rack and it just needs levering out of the way with a bar. Happenend on mine and was fine after.

Dog bone fully polybushed using superpro bushes. Will be fitted tomorrow and I'm going to have a look at the heat shields surrounding the decat to see if this is causing the vibration.

thats an absolute joke, what a bunch of cowboys! as far as the spacer, its common practice, takes the sensor out the direct jet of air so to speak, think 42draft design do them online.

nice one dude, glad its sorted!

Just a little update. I fitted my fully Super Pro poly bushed dog bone mount today and its pretty much sorted the exhaust vibration problem. It feels so much tighter on pull away I'd forgotten how much it improves the car. I have a small amount of vibration as expected on idle but hopefully that should settle down after a few hundred miles.

Saturday before Christmas I took a slow drive down to See Clive of CNTuning to collect some goodies. The weather was so poor I barely got above 60mph there and back it was absolutely lashing it down, one good thing to come from this though was this

IMAG1035-1.jpg

Bit blury I know but 43.4 mpg is pretty good going I reckon lol.

Any way back to topic. As mentioned I went to Clive's to collect some goodies and this is what I came back with

IMAG1046.jpg

S3 brace - pretty much mint so no painting required.

And this

IMAG1045-1.jpg

The Red Devils rear bumper with the Milotec diffuser all ready fitted and colour coded!!! Whoop whoop!!!

Now the picture does the bumper too much justice as its pretty poor condiiton and could do with a respray but I reckon I can get the diffuser off with some cheese wire and a heat gun, clean it up, spray it matt black to go with my mirrors and grill and it'll look pretty sweet.

I was pretty fed up with driving a brown vRS as the last time she was washed was back in September and she was dirtier than I'd be comfortable to show on here so I gave her a quck wash at work on Friday just gone.....

IMAG1040.jpg

IMAG1041.jpg

I'd forgotten how nice she looked when clean.

Well it looks like it could be sad news for the Porkmobile as I have new job in the pipeline starting in Feb which comes with a company vehicle. The mrs wont drive the Octy as she doesn't like it. So looks like we'll be selling both the Octy and the Mrs Fusion and buying her something better, she fancies an Audi A3 but we'll have to see. So watch this space.

VRS SE that is all !
