Hi got my skoda L & K Octavia (53 reg) 1.8 Turbo Automatic 7.5 yeas ago when my husband died and I've had megga problem, this car hasn't been my best purchase. Suddenly you're on your own and you have to make these big decisions, not easy, then problem after problem with huge bills. One being a new automatic gear box last year, what a shock that was. Thank god for friends of friends who are mechanics for the gear box.

I have a fantastic personalised registration plate, if you own a boxer dog you will love it. This is the best bit about my car.

Anyway I have seen a post regarding this problem but the outcome was rather vague, so here it is..... On the A3 dual carriage way my Engine Maintenance Light started flashing and on acceleration I can feel a judder, felt like ther was a blockage, not running very smooth and fuel consumption rose. i did rad that it could be "coils" does anyone know how to solve this problem, without it costing a fortune?

Thanks everyone

Hello & Welcome.

Post your problem in the Octavia 1 section for a better response.

The coil packs could be the problem, but getting someone wth VCDS to read the error codes would be a more acurate way of finding the fault.

Welcome Sharon,

Take a look at the VCDS owners list for someone local to you to do a scan or the car.

(BillyJim looks to be the most local to Woking)

If the car did happen to have faulty coils get in touch with your nearest Skoda retailer. Certain types are covered by a recall and this no cost to yourself.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Hello Sharon and welcome along

Welcome and good luck with sorting out the problem.

Thanks it's sorted now. Took it to my builder friend who has a garage I told him it point to the coils, he said we'll wait and see. He called me and said it was the spark plugs "great I thought" hour later he called saying they had to change the coil. They don't like being told do they.

Sorry it's taken so long to reply, not been a well bunny......... I have a problem with my headlamps where should I post it in the forum. 01345 - Ignition Module gas discharge lamp then N195 - Not a plausible signa'. When I switch the lights on and off a few times 9/10 times it does work. My MoT is due soon, I can't risk another year with that problem, it's been going on like that for 4 years now. I need this car to work for one more year, she's been a drain on my bank account since I got her at 18 months old. :(
