Closest i've heard is an engineers saying they though a car was probably chipped but couldnt prove it, the guy had a list of other mods as long as your arm not - declared on a imprezza sti. think he got about £20 after they wer added to the policy lol.

I dont think they check bth unless u had other bits and bobs (intercollers/suspention etc) mostly just focus on the damage. Beside usually they just charge you retrospectively for having it.

That really depends whether you have caused the accident or not. Insurers are responsible for injuries many years after the accident, so if they can prove something is not right and make a recovery from the other party then trust me they will.

Not being able to prove something does not end at the inspection level, as I said earlier, the item could be removed and sent to the manufacturer of the vehicle for testing. Most manufacturers are really helpful in this in a highly positive way, Remember, not all inspecting engineers work directly for the insurance company, which is a big help in being seen to be neutral, and a big incentive to look at things closer.

Yes, it happens all the time, maybe not so much with your small bumps but if there is a high value claim, insurers will do some very careful investigations. It's not a difficult job to tap into the ecu and read max boost readings.

Might be worth phoning sky insurance mate. They've just quoted me a very good fully comp quote that flux couldn't even touch, to that I was very surprised about. All modifications declared, age : 24, 4 years protected NBC. 5 Years driving experience, £600. flux wanted £670 for TPFT.
