Strange noise + smoke issue?

Featured Replies

Not a nice sound really. When accelerating normaly up to speed, if I slip the clutch just a tiny bit into third, and let the revs exceed over the road speed, I get a rather nasty rattle or grind. Sounds as if the clutch or DMF is shaking. Can post a video later if I figure out how to uplead one :/

Nothing can really be felt through any pedals, or my backside. Any ideas for this?

Second new problem, is a **** load of smoke when off the throttle from high rev ranges.

I first noticed it at night when i pulled out onto a motorway, put my foot down to get infront of another car, pulled out, let off the throttle at 4000ish rpm, and for a good few seconds, there was alot of smoke to be seen in his headlights. Just as if I still had my foot down.

Tried the same thing during the day, and could still see the smoke. The colour is the same as when I accelerate hard, which looks a bluey sooty colour.

Car is a 2006 (55) fabia vrs with 120k

Thanks

Anyone for any input?

Cheers

is it decatted? or remapped? when was its last service? is it still on original clutch? have you tried cleaning your egr?

No decat, but have mufflerectomy. Has been abit more smokey when booting it with this,

Last service was at 113k

As far as I am aware the clutch and DMF are original.

No EGR hasn't been cleaned, but there is a black oil like substance seeping and spraying out of the little hole.

Thanks

The smoke side, speaking from my own Skoda VRS (55 plate 93k miles) started to give a lot of smoke about a year ago. Fully serviced at Bosch garage for last 5 years, oil changed every 10k miles. I still got smoke after putting my foot down. I ignored this due to being serviced at my own demise, three weeks ago my VRS died on me.

This isn't to say this is the same problem as yours. But it could be early signs of your turbo on the way out. Not a mechanic - so don't worry, don't take my view as gospel, its just my view off my own VRS.

I would suggest you take your car to a skoda specialist to get checked over. Before you leave it to long and something goes pop.

bluey smoke is not normal. black/grey is

tke your egr vavle off and give it a clean with carb cleaner or the such, see if that helps, but yeh could be your turbo
