VWR Springs - Anyone using them?

Featured Replies

Seeing as my car is currently with APR for them to sort out the ecu for a remap I was thinking about seeing if they could do some uprated and lowered springs. Looking at their site I see they only seem to do the VWR Sport Springs and don't give a clear statement on reduced height. Had a search of the forum but can only find a couple of references to VWR springs.

So anyone got these? And if so any good and how low?

Thanks

The vwr air filter is a rebadged itg,so I've been wondering if the vwr springs are also rebadged from some other specialist. I'd suggest you ask Evan for more info on them

Take a look here they have more info about them. The website talks about the Polo but its the same part number for fabia according to APR's website.

Looks like 15mm drop over standard

Thanks for that, had been on there already. Keen to know if anyone is using them and if any good. Some googling turned up threads on other sites which don't say much about them other than saying they appear to be rebranded springs from AP or someone else.

Coming more to the conclusion of using the Skoda supplied Eibachs which shouldn't impact on warranty.

The eibachs are a big improvement on the stock springs. The drop isn't dramatic & looks much like you'd have expected a sporty hatchback to look. From an aesthetic perspective I'd like something lower, but these are low enough to improve on the stupidly high stock ride height, easy to live with & a useful handling improvement for road use.

The handling is a lot better & while it doesn't have the rwd kicks of my previous bmw's it does bring back fond memories of a golf gti & Peugeot 306 I had years ago. It now has that fun factor & feels like sporty hatchback now.

While I've no regrets on the eibachs they are firmer than stock & you may notice large bumps at motorway speeds can jar, but there isnt any dive/bounce that some people complain of with lowered cars. So if you have the budget then I'd suggest considering some up rated dampers at the same time, perhaps some bilsteins would be worth a look.

Having already taken the plunge I can certainly live with the eibachs, but if I still have the car when the dampers need replacing I think I'd certainly be looking at something better than the stock ones.

Lastly I think on paper the drop from the eibachs is the same as the vwr springs but you might want to double check this for yourself.
