Dealer fit accessories

Featured Replies

My Yeti has now been build and is en-route to a German port (whatever this means). Given that I ordered the thing originally in May 2011, this is no mean feat!

Anyway, my dealer (the one that took over my build slot from Autofinders that went bust) has quoted me a ludicrous price to fit some bits. I wanted:

Front and Rear Mudflaps

Aluminium Effect Rear Bumper Cover

Stainless Steel Pedal Covers

Price-wise, no real issue. To fit they wanted £108 PER ITEM!!!!! Is this typical? I'm no DIYer, but this has got to be taking the pi$$!

I'd be interested to know what other people had been quoted. Needless to say, I'm either going elsewhere or I may have to try and do the job myself....... eek!

Looking for a delivery early September (62 plate).

if you're ok with a bit of DIY, can read instructions and know a hammer from a spanner, I see no reason why any of those should be a major issue to fit. Plenty of help and advice will be undoubtedly be available from fellow Yeti owners. Good luck with your new Yeti :)

Thats alot steap for what are basic assesories really,

I fitted a set of mudflaps to my octavia and they were a doddle to fit,

The padal covers will just prob just be rubber so one off, one on at a guess,

The volvo xc's have skid plates and there usually a drill and rivet job, so carn't see yeti one been much differant altho there not difficult to fit its just measure twice drill one

I fitted the Skoda "Aluminium Effect Rear Bumper Cover" on mine, didn't bother with the "no nails" type stuff the instructions suggested, just marked the position and peeled off the self-adhesive strips. Took about 10 minutes. The car's been to France and back since and the cover is still on the bumper.

For this, F and R mudflaps, and pedal covers, 3 x £108 ??!! The dealer should go in for Opportunity Knocks comedy section.

As everyone has said, if you know which end of a screwdriver to use, then you can fit all those parts yourself!!

Think your dealer is defiantly taking the Michael

The fitting of the mud flaps is also a quick job and with the wide arches access is straight forward. the only tools required are a flat blade screwdriver, pliers (might need these to help ft the highlighted clips to the rear flaps), plus a T25 Torx key (or bit and ratchet handle) to remove the existing wheel arch liner retaining screws and to refit them with the flap in place.

Even if they charged £108 for fitting all three it would be a rip off!

With the money that you save fitting them yourself in under an hour, you could buy yourself a set of torx screwdrivers from Halfords

(not expensive). There are many items that you will come across on your car that are fitted with torx and it will be an investment.

Measure twice, drill once - good advice on all DIY. Cars or home.

No drilling required. All the relevant mountings are already there.

As others have said, the really are traight forward to it. The mudflats took me less than an hour to fit and the biggest problem s aking sure you have a torx screwdriver or bit for a small socket. A tip for you is when fitting the front mudflaps, turn the wheels to full look so that you ave clearance to get into the wheel arch.

I've not fitted the other items but can't imagine they are difficult.

Do it yourself and then decide hw to spend the £324 you've saved!

If you get stuck I'm sure there are enough of us who would be prepared to talk you through.

If your dealer suggested £108 to fit the 3 items then this isn't too bad, considering the mechanics time @ £90 - £100 per hour and the time it will take him to do the job (each job will have a specific time allocated to it by the Skoda manual to stop dealers cheating; so ask to see this information).

£108 per item is larcenous! I'd go back and ask them to qualify their quote.

The only potentially tricky task, from a DIY point of view, is changing the pedal covers, or at least changing the accelerator pedal unit.

The thread linked in TP's post gives an idea of what is required but if you look at post #12 in this thread you will see exactly what is required;- http://www.briskoda....ox#entry2841209

Damn!

Less of a story now I suppose - my dealer has come back to me and admitted they ****ed up. £108 for all items fitted.

Given my past history of having a go at stuff, I'll go with that. Waited long enough - I don't want to break it straight away!

I want for my Yeti a grille "honeycomb design", but i do not find on superskoda.com or oem accessories. :wall:

Give it time and I'm sure it will surface :)
