No joy from the dealers

Featured Replies

The dealers could not find any fault causing the intermitent stalling on cold start up. They basically said they had no idea what could cause it :( (1.8T elegance)

I saw a faulty coolant sensor mentioned as giving a simillar fault on a Golf 1.8T, can anyone else back up this theory? anyone else had this?

Cheers.

could be the temp sensor or the turbo pipe do a search for fault code 17705

How often does the stalling happen on start up? I have a similar problem but is very intermittent. When turning the key, the revs fluctuate uncontrollably between 350-750 rpm, revving the engine doesnt help, it seems to stop after 30 seconds.

Could that be a dirty throttle body ?

As K said, usually rough running on start up etc can be attributed to the 17705 fault.

Boils down to one or two of..

Boost pipe

Dump Valve

Throttle body.
