Help Parking Sensors Don't Work?!

Featured Replies

Bought my Skoda Superb today, but the bloody parking sensors don't work.

When you put it in revers it beeps, but then does nothing, it'd let me reverse right upto something without doing anything...

What's up?

Get it hooked up to a diagnostics setup (VCDS/Vagcom) which will let you scan the parking sensor controller; this may show you what is faulty. The sensors are expensive (£90+ each) and fail often, so best to get fixed for free if possible (dealer?)

Failing that lots of people seem to replace the whole system with a cheaper EBAY setup.

Search the forum, quite a lot of posts on this subject :)

Mine was the same, but it's under warranty. One sensor was duff and each sensor's around £100. It was fixed under warranty, but if it wasn't covered, I'd replace the lot with the £21.99 set I got for my Dad from Maplins, which still works perfectly. Other people have found ebay ones cheaper that works just as well - so long as they fit the hole I suppose!

Garage or private sale?

Dealer but I got money off as they don't work. I just want them fixed now.

It's so long that they'd be useful.

May have a break through!

Apparently, Superbs with dealer supplied tow bars, the parking sensors won't work.

Is there anyway I can reactive them?

As my car has a tow bar.

Is it a long beep that sounds?

Yeah it does. Every time I put it in reverse. About 2 secondsish.

That indicated a fault. But tbh your far better off binning the crap system and fitting something like a Cobra Parkmaster.

How much is that? And will it look OEM?

The car is so long I'd really like to have them.

wirh a dealer fitted tow bar and electrics, when you plug in the towbar electric plug it deactivates the sensors until you unplug the electrics. on the comfort and elegance models the stabilry control is also adjusted to take into account you are towing.

Kit is about £50 and looks good. Might need to buy a new bumper strip to mount them in.
