Another Blown Bulb :(

Featured Replies

Okay, a couple of weeks ago the rear right brake bulb went. Warning light on the dash switched on. Wasn't so bad really as I was getting tyres the day the bulb went and the mechanic fitting the tyres volunteered to put in a new bulb. Result :)

Now the front left bulb has gone, not one of the headlamps - main beams - one of the side running lights. I had a look at it this evening. I don't know feels like I need a special qualification in headlight engineering or something to swap out the bulb. The car has just passed it's fourth birthday, I hope I don't have a string of bulbs going bang lol.

2 Bulbs in 4 years isnt so bad,ive just had to replace a brake light bulb on my 4 yr old octy last week, the amount of '10' & '11' plates ive seen recently with lights out is shocking.

My Wife's MX-5 is still on ALL of it original factory fitted bulbs at 10 years old - amazing. It has done 60K miles so does get used - even in the Winter.

But no in normal situations I wouldn't say 2 bulbs in 4 years is bad, unlucky that two have gone so close together.

5yr still on all the same bulbs.

Bulb sorted :) Warning light came on again - quick spin over to my mechanic - the wire on the bulb was being stupid - so he swapped out the bulb - he approves my my choice of new car :) - charged me €5 - reckons car manufacturers try to make things as bloody awkward for mechanics as they can - He doesn't like taking out the headlamp unit - do it too often and the runners wear etc etc - can make aligning headlights difficult for NCT/MOT.

My 09 Octy did that constantly, usually giving the headlamp unit a thump with my fist brought the light back on.

Not too hard though :giggle:

Still on my originals since new. 6 years now. I bet one will blow now :(
