SMI-Koyo or TRW steering rack?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just looking at some track rods and they ask if the rack is TRW or SMI-Koyo.

How do I find this out?

Car is a 2006 VRS.

Cheers

Either looking at the car or ETKA

Right, if Tech1e's reply flew right over your head, an easy "starter for ten" could be to remove the steering fluid reservoir cap, and have a close look at it, if its got vertical "gripping" ribs and if TRW is mentioned somewhere on the cap, then I'd reckon that you have a TRW steering system.

Easy starter for 10? Don't call removing the battery and tray easy...lol

My bet however is TRW, I've only ever seen Koyo for LHD but don't treat that as gospel

Thanks for the replies - I will see if I can get under the battery.

Its probably worth doing just to check the level anyway.

Easier to drop the bumper on one side than take battery tray out.
