VRS oil consumption solved now?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I am thinking about buying new Fabia VRS, but I am quite afraid of so many cases of very high oil consumption in this car described here on forums and everywhere on the internet. Do you know if this problem is now solved in a newly built VRSes? Is there anyone with a recently bought VRS with oil consumption problems. One of the reasons I am buying a new car is that my current Fabia (2.0MPi) is starting to consume quite much of oil (0.5l per 1000km) and I would definitely not want to have new car with the same problem. :)

Not solved yet..But they are working on it...apparantly

I dud a poll on here , and 70% of people have no problems, bearing in mind alot of people come on forums trying to sort problems, there is probably a higher percentage without problems..

My car has the engine code that apparently has piston ring problems, but my car doesn't use a drop ;)

Wat engine code has the problems bud

well it was between a range of codes, I cant remember what they were! but mine is 'CAVE 234220' but I reiterate.. My car doesn't use a drop of oil....

I think I've got the CAVE code to. Mines done nearly 9k miles and has used around 1.5l which I think is ok, but will hopefully stop using any at all soon

There have been alot of revisions to the newer engines involving pistons and piston ring to solve the oil burning issue.

Im sure they wouldnt waste money on revisions like that unless it was going to make a difference.

I find it funny when guys like i got oil problem, ive used 1.5L in 5000 miles well if you think you have a problem try using 9L in just over 9000 miles. I feel the 1st service is gonna be pointless lol

Likewise, mine is around 80 miles short of 10,000 and its only been topped up with 1L (yesterday) since leaving the showroom.

If I remember correctly, revised piston rings were alledgedly fitted from CAVE 261914. Wrote this down months ago after seeing it on the Seat Cupra forum - ran straight outside to check mine !!.

Lots of internet chatter about a revised 1.4TSI twincharger coming soon - maybe with the facelift Ibiza Cupra.

Did wonder if a lot of the chatter was actually getting confused with the new Polo GT Bluemotion engine. However, the other day, I did come across the latest MANN Filter catalogue that lists a new CTHE engine code for the Ibiza Cupra. If the rumours are true, the revisions include new pistons, revised oil system and maybe some sort of factory fitted catch can.

sounds interesting mosquito... like an "evolution" of the engine?

keep us updated :)

Occurding to v5 mine has Cav engine code guessing thats the same as Cave???

Will this help the cars with issues? They will call vehicles in to check and replace pistons and rings or is this not possible ?

Mine used 11L over last 3300 miles after the new rings.

I have no "insider knowledge",but it will be interesting to see if any of it comes true. If nothing concrete appears on the internet (surely it will),I'll be popping down to my local Seat dealer for a peep under the bonnet of the facelift Ibiza Cupra when it goes on sale.

kopo, nobody can say thats acceptable... insist on a new engine....

They told me a new engine may be got the same problem.

Thanks realised when i was looking through service book and cave was stamped everywhere. Kopo that sucks it should be returned and sorted, i dont have much faith in garages these days many guys dont seem to be able to do their job which is a great big shame.

Cant believe they still think the new engines will have this problem the engine has been out now for a long time and you would have thought vw/skoda would have come up with some kinf of fix by now.

I would tell them you want a new engine as a new engine isnt gonna drink that amount of oil in that distance we hope

Sorry kopo ! Not another bloody engine :(

print this thread out! show them! my engine uses NO oil..... search my threads..... you cant be expected to put that much oil in... its wrong... they have to sort it, its outside VAG's tolerances...

Reply from skoda uk:

Whilst I recognise that you are of the opinion a new engine is needed to resolve the issue I can confirm ŠKODA UK are unable to authorise a new engine as a solution at this time. Nonetheless, please be assured that ŠKODA technicians at the highest level at our factory are working toward a technical and permanent resolution. Once again, please be assured that ŠKODA are conscious of the need for a speedy resolution; however it is imperative that this process is not rushed if an effective and permanent solution is to be provided

if you bought it new, you are obliged to give them a chance to fix the fault,,, they have tried and failed, therefore you can reject the vehical... I suggest you threaten to reject it, and ask for a full refund....

Six months old ex demonstrator bought 18 months ago. But the repair was carry out by different dealers on February.
