Tyres for my brother's Civic

Featured Replies

My brother needs 3 new tyres for his Civic, so he's going to get a complete new set.

He doesn't require the very best tyres available, it's just a 1.8 petrol and although he doesn't hang about he doesn't "go silly" in it.

Tyres size requirement is 205/55/16/V. Looking at various options we've set a budget of around £73 a corner. He's been looking at Black Circles (likes the idea of some clubcard points for his purchase) and we're down to a list:

Bridgestone Turanza T001

Kumho Solus KH17

Hankook Ventus Prime 2

Yokohama C.Drive 2

Dunlop SP Sport 01

Toyo Proxes CF1

Avon ZV5

Uniroyal RainExpert

Goodyear Excellence

Pirelli P7

Are any of these considered "all weather" as opposed to "summer"?

He would like something with a good wear rate, he'd like to get a fair few miles out of them. I await your advice on this list and/or other options but remaining STRICTLY within budget :)

Ta

The Toyo Proxes CF-1 has more grip than the Barum Bravaris; proven by experience.

I'd consider anything on the list except the Avon or Dunlop.

only one from the list I've used are the goodyear excellence.... on the back of my mark I vRS... they were pretty good.

I've had the Ventus Prime 2s, good tyres wet and dry. Quiet, good ride. Touring tyres not sports tyres though. I didn't have any issues with them in cold conditions. Can't comment on any of the others.

Newest tyre design on your list is the T001.

For me in order:-

1. Yoko.

2. Kumho

3. Hankook.

Uniroyals!

Falkens! lol 452s are good in the wet and dry.

Sent from my Galaxy S2 not a Crapple!

Falken ZE912s.

Had 'em on the MX5, SDI and still got 'em on my vRS.

Decent tyre, good value for money, some rim protection too.

Not directional so you can switch 'em around to keep wear even.

Don't look too bad either.

Nice and cheap at Camskill ;) They are an official Falken stockist. £50.10 inc vat each. £2.99 per tyre delivery
