No power whatsoever

Featured Replies

Just gone to start my 2006 vrs and there's no power whatsoever. I literally got the window down a couple of inches and that is it. Now nothing. Car won't even lock. I drove the car fine the day before yesterday - no signs of any issues. The clock has reset, and no lights come on the dash. No radio, just stranges from under the bonnet which are difficult to describe.

Any idea's?

To add something else, can't open the boot. And when I open the drivers door without put the key in the interior light flashes and there is a 'ticking' noise under the drivers wheel.

Still original battery ?

Unusual for the battery to die in the Summer, you tend to notice it more in the Winter, but if it is the original battery it is about the sort of age that they go at.

If you are at home and have the skills it would be worth checking the battery terminals are tight.

I found the best price when I replaced the one on my old A3 was from Euro Car Parts, check online as they sometimes have offers for online orders or reserve and collect at your local branch.

Flat battery ?

Ah ticking noise under the drivers wheel could be that the internal battery in the alarm module has died and is causing your issues. Could also just signify a battery issue and because of the age of the alarm module the internal batteries are dead in that too. My manual states that the alarm module only has a life of 6 years before it needs to be replaced.

Boot lock is power operated so if you have no juice that won't work.

Flat battery would be my intial thought. But can't get into the boot either.

I'll have to try and find someone who can help me with a 'jump'.

Would any of these issues be covered by skoda warranty?

They're sending a 'skoda technician'! Flash.

If your battery is that dead you won't be able to jump. You need a booster pack with a min 4amp crank or just borrow a battery charger.

Oh and your boot won't unlock as the mechanism is powered so when battery dies you can't open boot.

My car is a 2006 and my battery died 3 months ago. Replaced it and haven't had a issue since.

If you have a cover call them and they will will send someone out who will start your car and check battery condition.

Flat battery was the cause, but no errors or reasoning why. Alternator fine and battery healthy.

Hats off to the skoda (VAG) assistance. Spot on service, ring when they know they will be with you. Really friendly and efficient.

with my fabia i had a faulty power steering pump which would drain the battery,so the battery and alternator would seen fine but the battery would be discharged overnight.

No power drain somewhere? Audio install?

I'd hedge a bet that it could be the Alarm module if it is still the original.

Is the main battery still the original ? If it is I would be replacing it before this Winter if I was you.

I guess you just need to see if this was a one off event or if it happens again.

Just had to call skoda out again, no power. Probably have to go to the garage now. They said they will provide a courtesey car. Do they have to provide a car of similar size? I know I will struggle to get the push chair in a fabia!

Ask them nicely and explain why you require an Octavia sized boot.

Will provide what they have, but no harm in asking. Don't just expect something similar though!

Took the car in to fish bros skoda in Swindon this morning. Told them the issue and that I have the extended warranty. Told me that I may need to pay a diagnose charge of £50. Is this right?!

Got a hire car for 48 hours but told them they need to pay for it until my car is fixed. This is what skoda assist said they'd do on the phone but the dealer said that was wrong?! I really don't want the hire car- a Hyundai ix35. My word this is an awful car! The boot is smaller that a Honda Jazz!!

So despite two health checks on the battery which came back good, the dealer has said it is the battery not holding its charge. They have quoted me at £111 plus the diagnosis charge of £50 so all in £160ish.

What are your thoughts on this? So tempted to just go to elsewhere to get a battery. My only concern is that if it turns out not to be the battery I am then stuffed.

The saga continues.

Dropped the car off this morning. Asked what the actual problem is.

'We think its the battery' They say.

'But it's been tested twice by skoda assist and came back as healthy' I reply.

'Oh...they use the same equipment as us... it may not be the battery then. We may have to do some more diagnostics...'

So leave it with them and ask if they can drop it off at home for me as they provide that service. It's a long walk with a one year old from North Swindon. His response was it is good especially with the Olympics on we should embrace it. But he agreed they could drop my car off.

As I was leaving he shouted 'If we have one driver, can you drop him back here?'.

I laughed, and said would I get discount and/or petrol money? He said no. He could see I wasn't impressed, so just left the dealer....

See what happens!

Personal experience with fish bros skoda in swindon...... I wouldnt bother!!!

not the most helpful people in the world.

I travel to gloucester for my skoda warranty work!!!

You dont live in carterton by anychance??
