Octavia II TPM light on

Featured Replies

My TPM light is on all the time and has been for a good couple of year now. Wasn't too worried when it malfunctioned as I regularly check tyre pressures anyway. However as this is soon to be an MOT failiure and I am loath to send it to a dealer as electrical faults can seriously damage the wallet does anybody have any ideas where I can start looking as to the cause.

It just came on one day on the way to work. I checked tyres and all ok, went to reset but all it does is flash once indicating "a fault".

Any clues would be a great help.

Cheers Chris

This might be a stupid question but:

Have you held it down long enough? Can't remember if it bongs if you just press it but IIRC you have to hold it down for about five seconds.....

Oh yeah held it down for several seconds and all it does is flash and then stay on.

and it must be stationary when you do it.

This is why it was it was the only thing I didn't spec when I ordered my car!

Im sure I've reset mine (on my old VRS) whilst moving

Some do, but most dont seem to like it. Newer cars you cant - I get a warning on the Sharan about being stationary.

Might I suggest that the first thing to do is get the car scanned to see if there are any faults logged ?

Check out the VCDS owners thread or map and see if there is anyone local that is happy to help for a beer token or two
