Gathering some info on prices

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post on the site, I currently own a 2011 VRS and am looking to P/X it in for a Diesel model VRS at the end of the year. I'm slightly concerned that the deal I got originally wasn't the best so am looking to maximize discount this time around. Basically I would like to know what options people have selected and costs involved. Keep it by PM if people do not wish to disclose how much they paid to everyone.

I look forward to any input in my quest to save a bit of money :o)

I suggest you test drive the diesel if you haven't already. I went from a TFSi to a CR and was massively disappointed with the performance drop. I don't know your reasons for wanting to change or what importance the performance, or indeed economy, aspect hold in your decision but something to think about.

I paid just over 16k for mine on a PCP. Only options were maxidot and spare wheel. This was with the VAT paid offer. Obviously that doesn't help much if you are looking at the diesel!

I'm afraid to say that you'll find your TSI is probably not worth much, maybe £12-13k if you haggle well. It's a lt to lose in less than a year!

As for diesel, £17k should get you a basic hatch with no options.

Why trade in a 2 year old car?

Why would you want a diesel after a TSI I can only think you want better economy.

If economy is the reason you would have to do a hell of a lot of mileage in the diesel to pay for what you are going to lose on your current petrol.

Id seriously consider keeping the petrol!

Why trade in? Sell privately.

I wanted to buy a brand new vrs but the waiting times put me off.

approx 2 month ago i spent £13,600 on a 59 reg diesel octavia vrs estate in silver. I spent a while looking through autotrader as i find the white seats with the VRS emblem on them a bit naff (just my personal opinion!) and i wanted the black leather instead.

Otherwise theres loads out there sencond hand.

Cars immaculate, had 22,000 miles on it, black leather with black rooflining ( is this standard? ) fullsized spare wheel and cruise control.

Its used as a taxi so it had to be in good shape. Appart from one problem it looks and drives like its brand new so as far as im concerned it was a bargain.

The one issue i was worried about was as i crest a hill the car can momentarily cut power. And i can be only doing 20mph so its not the traction control! I first thought id been sold a dud but after looking on this site its a common issue that no-ones been able to solve so ive just learned to live with it.

Floor it in second and it surges forward, still puts a massive grin on my face. Seems to take only seconds to hit 80.

my parents had an aston martin v8 vantage, a proper performance car which was a blast to drive. when i was in it it was common to see only 8 mpg! and it didnt matter what speed you were goin when you hit a corner it just handled it.

so ive drove a fast car yet this 2.0 turbo diesel still makes me very happy!

my average day is a 12 mile drive on an A road with some overtaking followed by around 90 miles boming around town. when i dont have a passanger almost every junction i come to i give it some welly.

after a days driving i still havent seen the trip computer go below 34mpg which is pretty impressive :)

Are you in Carlisle? I think I've seen you flying round

yup, and when im not flying around im helping old dears out the back; usually with their legs shaking and clinging onto their walking sticks for their lives.

seriously it makes a great taxi, a lot of people myself included said it could never be a comfortable ride with those big wheels but it does the job just fine.

I will tell the whole story to give an idea where I stand.

When I ordered the car I was after originally the waiting time meant I was unable to receive the car before moving abroad. This meant I picked one from 'stock', hence me having a petrol version. I had always intended to own a diesel version. So the performance isn't an issue.

I realize I will be losing money on the P/X which works out as 11% on what I paid as to what I've been quoted as P/X.

The diesel is what I wanted from the off along with the options I intended to have. This is the reason I'm after another car so soon.

Easypug, Are you buying tax-free cars? If so, most people wont be able to help much.

If not, an 11% loss is pretty good on a car of that age. You need to say what options you have and want...it would also help if you said what the cost of- old car, new car and px price, as no one can say if the deal is any good without it. Dealers might like to talk in %, but at the end of the day 100% of feck all is still feck all!

I just priced up a VRS CR Estate with- Metallic, Rear Park, Variable boot floor, Xenons, Silver Rails, Spare Wheel, Sunset Glass, Black interior, Light Assist & Auto dimming mirror and Maxidot. It came in at £19.3-ish with a bit of haggling.

I am but all this essentially means is its a UK car with discount applied so the prices are still informative to me.

I am happy with the P/X valuation so will leave that there.

What I was asking originally is prices which have been paid for new vehicles with X, Y or Z options.

My options list looks like this:

Skoda Octavia vRS 2.0TDi CR 170PS Hatch

Steel grey metallic

Front & rear parking sensors

Auto dimming rear view mirror

Heated front seats + vRS alcantara

Maxi dot computer

MDI

Towbar (removable)

18” ‘Neptune’ alloy wheels (Black)

Boot net

Rear window sun blind

Rear window roller blind

18K +/- £200 is a good deal for that I'd say. BTW, steel grey is what I have and it's awesome, but black wheels on it??????
