Oil cooler fualt

Featured Replies

First I’m new so hello to all of you.

I need some advice/help.

I bought a 57 plate Skoda Octavia estate2.0 TDI 140bhp back in May from an independent dealer. It has full main dealer service history and receipts. In great condition, it had the cam belt done at 60k and the clutch done at 50k, mileage currently stands at 110k.

I took the car to the south of France and the day after we arrived the header tank was full of oil. I panicked and thought head gasket!!! Got the car recovered to local Skoda in France and they replaced header tank, oil cooler and radiator. The main fault was with the oil cooler

Has anyone experienced problems with oil coolers on their Skoda? Also I think that this should be covered by the dealers 3 month standard warranty even if I had the work done in France. I did not have much of a choice.

Any help or advice welcome.

Thanks

J

Hmmm, I'm sure I've read about the odd oil cooler issue on here before but I don't think it's a particularly common fault.

As for warranty if you bought from a main dealer then I believe the warranty may stretch to all uk dealers (ie underwritten by Skoda UK) although I'm not sure about this, however getting money back for work carried out in France could be difficult, still if you don't ask you don't get!

Welcome by the way! I hope your Skoda experience gets better from here on in.
