Disconnected vacum pipe??

Featured Replies

Hi all,

After removing the airbox of my fabia 1.2 12v i noticed this seemingly loose `vacum` pipe, one of two that connect airbox to engine. Is it loose, and if yes, to where is it connected??. Note attached jpg with angled hose in question in the centre.

Thanks,

Charles

These pipes are a fairly loose fit and do not need to be clamped on

Hi,

Thanks for the reply but my query has not been answered in that this breather or vacum pipe ( exact use unknown! ) seems to have been attached at both ends!.

PS : Is there a fellow owner with a 1.2l 12v fabia handy with a digital camera?.

Cheers,

Charles

Surely if it's still attached at one end, the other end should be easy to find as it's on an arc somewhere centred on the still fixed end? Or have I misunderstood the question?

PS there's a lot of hoses in that pic and it's not immediately obvious to which you refer...

It may just be the air pickup from the air filter housing so only one end is attatched, there is usually something holding the other end near the radiator.

You mean the small breather pipe from the air box; I was looking at the larger hoses! It should be attached somewhere you are right but it is not critical, sorry you need someone with the same motor for exact location

Pick up mine this saturday... will post pics then, unless you resolve it prior to then.

I goes on the underside of the airbox on the right hand side.

Its come off when you have pulled the air box up, it is a vacuum pipe. But notice how very little changes with a vacuum pipe disconnected, thats because the lambda probes pick up that its running lean and alter the mixture to compensate.

Hi all,

Many thanks for the quick replies!!. Some points I would like to pick up are--

1. The The --- Tks all the same.

2. Lummox -- I differ. When a vacum pipe does not hold a vacumm, watch out as it will give rise to a raft of difficult to diagnose problems. In fact, with tedious and difficult to diagnose problems, first thing to watch for are disconnected adncracked vacumm hoses!!.

3. ncarring. Will try again!!

4. fabia 12v. Will try to fix. Will humbly ask for pics if I do not succeed!!

Cheers,

Charles

It should be easy enough to diagnose an air leak as the output of the lambda probe(s) will be stuck instead of fluctuating as its constantly monitoring a lean mixture.
