Removing rear door card with door shut

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, Hope you may be able to help.

My off side rear door isn't unlocking via the fob or inner handle.. the pin in the door raises but it feels like the dead locks are on but will not release the lock on the 2nd pull.. you can just keep pulling the handle and nothing

Now once or twice before my drivers door has failed to my lock (I usually checked every time however forgot once, much to my dismay after having my car raided by the local bell ends) but Since lubed up the pin in the door etc and it seems great now, no issues since

Now I need to remove the rear door card.. with the door closed to see what is going on.. I've tried banging the door handle whilst locking/unlocking etc,, basically everything with the door card still in place and the lock just isn't budging

I've read a few things on a search here but nothing categorical, mostly along the lines of, remove the speaker grill and screws.. undo the handle cover and bolts and pull.

I am aware of another 7 tx screws around the outter edges of the doors.. surely these will need to be removed too how will I get at them

Any advice would be great

Thanks

I doused the pin/latch in a release agent hoping it was just jammed up overnight but that doesn't seem to have done anything.

Really need to get the card off but ideally want to do it without killing it  hellllllllllp

The only thing you cajn do is remove the 2 big screws behind the inner handle, the one behind the tweeter, and you can get a couple from the bottom. Then you need to pull the door card and break the plastic clips around the edge. They're only a few pence from Skoda. No other way round it unfortunately.

You may get lucky by carefully hitting the lock area with your hand whilst locking and unlocking the car with the remote.

Hi mate, what area is the lock in.. I've tried bashing around the lock area but to no avail

Cheers

It's the part which latches onto the loop on the door frame, if you open the other rear door, you'll get an idea. Have you checked the wiring for any broken wires where it comes through the B post?

Hi,

Did you ever manage to get your stuck door open? My rear o/s door has been stuck for some time, exactly as yours was, and now MOT time is looming and a non opening door is an instant fail. I just can't seem to figure a way to get the door open without wrecking the door card and there don't seem to be any out there to replace it, if I mangle it with my ham fists!!

Any and all insights gratefully received

there are a few post about sorting if you have a search.

it can be done easy enough if you have a read up to know what to look for.

I had to do mine it was a pig of a job and took my time with door card and managed to get it off without breaking anything. if your the patient type nice and slow with it then you get to take your frustration out on the unit. I used a screwdriver and hammer very carefully to take the plastics off the unit then drilled the metal cage rivets out bent it up beat out the rest of the plastic and then just pushed the lock with the screwdriver :)
