First spy shots of the Chinese stretched Yeti?

Featured Replies

It looks to me like they gave deliberately chosen the angle to make an ordinary Yeti look longer! Mind you 60mm ain't much.

Every little helps.

AND if they used a wide angle lens, then the photos don't reveal anything.

I agree.

Trick of the camera through position, angle and lens used.

Would definately say that it's just the angle of the photo. 60mm?? Would it make that much difference? <----- NO CRUDE REPLIES PLEASE :giggle:

Agree with the fact it looks weird without the rails.

Big question, is it really a Yeti or one of those Chinese "we took one to pieces, and made our own copy" vehicles. Remembering back to the Top Gear show that had some wonderful examples of such things!

Interesting point - there are no badges visible.

The Chinese do copy cars but they "nearly" copy them. They have never ever made a 100% copy of any car. So fear not, this is a real Yeti and the reason there are no badges is also the giveaway that it is an official Škoda mule of some description.

The reason it has no roofbars is also because those parts have not yet been made for the longer car... SWB Yeti bars would not fit a LWB Yeti...

This is just one of samples under test not final design, the first photo of such cars appeared early this year.

I guess this car's body is stretched, and so did not installed the existing roofrails, formal appearance will be guite different from that showed in this picture.

Chinese Yeti is one of models conducted by Skoda, it is said that Shanghai-VW jiont will start production of Yeti in spring 2013.

If it was another 60mm of boot I'd be all in favour. If it's rear legroom then I'm not bothered either way - and this assumes the wheelbase doesn't change - if they increase that then presumably the turning circle gets bigger, and one of the (many) things I love about the Yeti is the tiny turning circle.

Agreed. There is enough legroom within the car, and a lot of people now days do consider a 'larger' boot over other aspects of the car. Should have worded my reply slightly different as in, 60mm overall stretch you wouldn't notice a difference, whereas 60mm in one place (boot for instance) you would.

The article states:

Wheelbase will reach 2638mm compared with 2578...

Well, you can hardly expect me to read the article and thus base my response on the facts, can you? This is the inferweb, dagnammit! ;)

Ahem. Sorry!

I can't really see any difference? Although if it's for a Chinese market it'll have more rear leg room. For some inexplicable reason other than "they like it"

Some elongated cars have looked... awkward? Will need to see better pics, but as I've said, I can't see any difference, so it might have escaped that fate!

Bless. You're forgiven.

You will find that a long time ago when rumours started about a Yeti Combi that a 400mm stretch was rumoured. If you look at the stretch between a Cashcow 7 seat and 5 seat you'll see 60mm is not remotely enough and 400mm is way too much. So who knows.

Have a look here:

There are also images in that thread that might help in the picturing of this car:

I also did a crude stretch which I posted here:

I quite like the roof rail, not much as the ones on the concept car though, without the roof rail, it looks kinda like a hearse...

Here's two images taken with a 14-24mm lens and as you can see the proportions 'appear' different to actual Yeti

Did you airbrush the dirt off or is it really that clean ;-)
