Octavia II VRS waterpump part cost

Featured Replies

Hi

I will soon be the owner of a 2006 Octavia VRS. I negotiated with the dealer i bought it from so that they would do the cambelt (as it hasnt been done yet) for £200 as it was unlikely i was going to get this done for under £350 elsewhere. Stupidely ( and i can't think why i didnt remember this) i didnt mention the waterpump. Now the dealer has agreed that they will do the waterpump as well, no problem but that they will charge me the cost of the part but said they wouldnt charge me the labour. Fair enough i thought and from what i could see from parts websites and other posts on her the waterpump is £30 approx.

Is this correct because they have said it will be £56 so i think they are taking me for a ride and trying to make some profit on it. If i can buy it retail online for £34 from eurocarparts, surely as a dealer they can buy it trade for less!

So, i just wanted to check what the correct price for a waterpump is for an Octavia VRS 2006.

I was about £35 I think, but indy sorted it, might have been a pattern part. I wasn't bothered as long as it had a brass impellor.

Will the £56 not be for topping the coolant up too

Well they are giving it a full service as well so i should hope not.

Coolant isn't part of the service as far as I remember. The water pump was 33.60 + vat which comes to around £40 inc vat and last time I bought a bottle of coolant from vw it was around £12 . also make sure they change the tensioners and engine mounting bolts.

Are the tensioners and engine mounting bolts not part of the cambelt kit?

Yes, if they use the genuine Skoda kit.

It is possible to buy only the belt which is a no-no.

For £200 you need to check that they are fitting the full kit and not just the belt!

Skoda charge £299 for a cambelt and £369 for the cambelt and waterpump (Skoda National Pricing) so to have the pump fitted at a Skoda dealer is £70.

ok, thanks. So if they use the proper Skoda kit and waterpump then everything should be fine yes? I will check with them before they do the work.

Ane email i had from them earlier suggests that they are using a kit and not just the belt "we can replace the waterpump for you, but this would be chargeable (for the part only as it is not supplied as part of the kit, the labour we will do free of charge" but i will confirm with them.
