Uprated Alternator?

Featured Replies

Hello all!

Just had a quick check, and the stand Alt on the vRS is only a little 70amps. I need to get hold of a higher rated Alt. Does anybody know where I can get one, which will fit straight in?

I've heard that the Octavia TDI ones are 110amp, will these fit straight in? Preferably need one higher that that.

Cheers people

Why do you need more power - lots of ICE or what?

If ice install fit 2nd battery and couple of caps, that way you should get away without uprating alt(cheaper too).Might have some ice for sale if anyone is interested.JL SUBS and Hifonics amps.

2nd battery is going in anyway, Just need a better Alt. Just checked, and standard one is 90A. Need about 150A min.

A lot of people are still undecided as to whether power caps (as far as car install) actually make a difference, you'd be far better off getting a deep cycle battery upfront, ie Optima. If you would like to know more about this debate then i suggest you take a look at Car Audio Direct Forums. And just a note: to put in a split charger for the second batt, aswell as making sure it is ventilated to air

Three of the 120A alternators listed for the Leon are common to the Octavia, but I do not know if a 120A alternator is a direct replacement for a lower rated one, and whether other parts are needed.
