Hi everyone,

Yesterday we welcomed the arrival of a nearly new SM (Jana) to the Hairball household. This is my first venture into the Skoda world, also my first 4x4.

She's an Elegance TDi 170 model year 12 now with 250 or so miles on the clock. The run in the heavy rain yesterday was pretty good averaging 47mpg. A very pleasing drive feeling very stable and secure given the road conditions. The smile was hard to hide as the road conditions improved later in the day. I guess this whole experience will get even better once I get more used to the car as the miles mount. I'm taking it a little easy for now given the mileage. (but keeping it under load and varying engine speed)

I have been lurking in this area for a couple of days and must say this place is a real wealth of useful information so I thought I'd pop in and introduce myself now I actually have the car.

Welcome along and enjoy the SM

Welcome to the forum.

Good choice, I also have a 12 plate 170CR 4x4 Elegance. :)

Great car that can do so many things well.

Just clicked over 10,000 miles earlier this week.

Welcome - top place for top people :)

Good choice in motor! The 170 will do you very well.

Welcome - top place for top people :)

+1 :sun:

Congrats on the SM, Hairball, from another '12 plate 170 owner.

Mine arrived Saturday, ordered 13th March.. A 170 Black Elegance, already been off road after i had had it 2 hours. Took a bit of guts to put it in neutral and let it go down a steep rocky slope, but hill descent was brilliant like the rest of the machine. Will be used in my mountain rescue role here in North Yorkshire.

Well done Hairball. Any question you could possibly have over Skodas, Yetis or 4 x 4 can be answered here. This place is the best!

John
