First post - I really have searched but can't find what this is.

I've just bought a 51 plate diesel. When I turn the key so that the dash lights come on, but not start, I get 6 beeps.

I really have only just bought the car, and from a garage so I want to work out what it is telling me before too much time passes.

Any suggestions would be break.

Normally you'll get a beep for every fault that is displayed on the dash (for example on a really bad day mine beeps for low fuel and again for low screenwash), but 6 at the same time seems odd...do all of the dashboard lights extinguish when you fire it up? (sometimes the battery light needs you to start moving off to extinguish)

Have you got your seatbelt on ???

Ah it was the seatbelt! Simple as that. Thank you. Weird that it just does 6 and stops even if you don't put your belt on!

Welcome! You'll find Google much better for searching than the inbuilt search routine - just add site:briskoda.net to your search string.

Doing that led to another topic with six beeps - but on a quick scan through I'm not sure there was a conclusion - might give a few pointers though...

However my car doesn't react so just turning on the ignition...

EDIT - clearly different models behave differently...

strange, my 53 plate Elegance doesn't have a seatbelt warning, not that I want it, I know when it's on as I'd remember doing it without a beep telling me. Just found it strange that it was active on an earlier model :think:

I didn't think any Fabias came with seatbelt warning's.

The manual states:

Seat belt warning light* ?

The warning light ? comes on for a few seconds after the ignition is switched on as

a reminder to fasten the seat belt.

If you do not fasten the seat belt, a long warning signal sounds for 6 seconds.

However the asterisk shows that this is not standard across the range in every country - and curiously the vRS (at least late models) aren't fitted with either the warning light or the warning sound. I've just driven down the road to test it out!

I'll take a look in my manual tomorrow (53 plate owner) and see what that says. To the OP; just to be certain as this is in the Fabia section, that you are talking about a Fabia?

Iv never seen any mk1 fabias with seat belt warning and iv driven a fair few!

can you upload a video of what happens when you try to start it, from what's seen on the dash so we're all clear what you mean?

It's the seatbelt, my octavia does it, only six then quiet.
