Took my Fabia for first service today and asked for the seat belt warning light in the dash display to be re ativated together with the audible warning signal. Both these had worked briefly in October 2003 when the vehicle was new. I can be forgetful wit my seat belt on ocassions and find the warning device helpful if not a little irritating.

On collecting the vehicle from City Gates Chichester I was told that the Fabia VRS does not have either of these functions!!!? I contested this but to no avail. Skoda technical have apparently been consulted who also informed City Gates that the Fabia VRS does not have this function. My memory of the vehicle when new was that it did and page 36 in the owners mnual confirms the existence of both warning light and six second audible warning signal to remind the driver to engage his/her seat belt!!!?

So please fellow Fabia VRS drivers out there, who is right? City Gates insist that they cannot help and their diagnostic system confirms this? If it helps, the audible signal I recall, was the same as that heard when the car is low on fuel or the lights are left on. Page 27 and 36 in the manual shows what the warning light should look like?

On the other hand the octy moans like hell if you forget your belt.

I will check the coding tables for you tomorrow and see if its possible. But I dont think there are the sensors in the seat belt buckles for it on the Fabia vRS, certainly never seen one with them as yet.

Remember your hamdbook is a generic Fabia manual, it may well contain information in it for other models.

Same here. Started the engine with the seat belt undone - no warning light or beeps. It is in the Fabia manual p36 - so I assume at least one Fabia model has this feature.

Elegance does have it, equipment wise its above the vRS.

I've got the audible seatbelt warning on my 04 fabia vRS - it beeps 6 times if I have the key in the ignition without my seatbelt on.

Should be able to code it then in theory.

You turn it off by filling the washer bottle up.

But as part of your weekly check you should make sure it's topped up

Double checked today, it is possible to code the dash insert for belt warning, but since the Fabia vRS doesnt come with the wiring etc for it its not going to work.

This is on UK spec cars, other markets require them by law, so far they are not required in this country, only required to get an NCAP 5 star rating.

Load of old cobblers IMHO! As I said earlier..why do you need lights and bells to remind you to put the belt on..common sense and habit must surely prevail?

I had the very same problem, thought I'd broken something when the obscenely loud BEEP went off

If you want to know if you have the seat belt warning on the belt, look at the back of the receiving slot ( part that faces the seat) , If you see 4 or 6 flat metal studs then it is there.

My octy had 4 studs on the back that work as the connectors.

Not sure about the fuel one, but pretty sure the washer one and seat belt one can be disabled using VAG-COM......
